COTD "Club Catch" - Who Has Actually Paid for This?

$70 for free shipping when you spend over $50… for a year.

So who has paid full price for it? and if so, why?

Do you think you'll make your money back? Would you do it again?

Genuinely curious.

Do you need a new category for "on trial but planning to cancel before due date"? That would distinguish it from "on trial" and considering continuing.

It's not worth it maybe if it was free shipping on orders over 20 or 30 but not 50.

  • Catch of the day is still around?

    Bikies pay it for me

  • I made two orders while on trial and then cancelled before paying.

  • Had it for 4 weeks on each of our 4 accounts to take advantage of their reward codes etc. had a good run and cancelled all the other day. Got some really cheap stuff, mostly shoes and power tools.

  • I paid for a club catch membership in December last year and I have used it about 20-30 times so I have definitely got value for money. I live in a rural area so it is mainly for convenience- having free delivery saves me a trip to town. Definitely worth it if local shopping is limited. Free delivery for over $20 for me but I am not sure whether I would continue if it was minimum of $50.

why need to pay if you can just create new account with new email and then get another free one month trial? are you that loyal to COTD?

    • +1

This is what I do. Never pay them a cent

  • Do you need to cancel the free trial to not be charged for a renewal at the end of it? Or can you just let it lapse?

    • If you do not cancel your trial subscription, after the 30-day trial period we will charge your credit card the subscription fee and you will become a full subscriber of Club Catch.

      • That's pretty sneaky seeing as there is a check box which says "Renew my subscription before it expires" and I have it unchecked. Also considering it says

"During this time, you may cancel your trial subscription at any time by logging into your Club Catch account on the app and website and disabling automatic billing or by making a request via our Help Desk."

So does un-ticking the "Renew my subscription before it expires" disable the automatic billing?

        • Im wondering the same thing, joined the trial for my free shipping on an item, Ive un-ticked the box and hoping that it now

Its all good. I just did a chat with them. As long as you have unticked the box, it won't renew or charge your card when it expires.

"As I check your Club Catch Membership will expire on 11.9.15 and the auto renewal is turned off this means that you will not be charge the annual $69 when your 30 trial expires. Do you still want to proceed cancelling the membership anyway?"

  • duh I forgot to cancel it, can someone tell me how to cancel it? I can't seem to find a place to cancel it :-o

quick do online chat. now now now

  • My experience with trying to cancel a COTD membership. (Sorry for the verbose explanation but you need to appreciate the problems with trying to cancel a COTD membership.)
    1. There's no method available on the web site to cancel a membership.
    2. Tried using the online chat. Told that accounts cannot be cancelled, instead I need to change my details to something false. Problem with that is the credit card details used when you sign up for the trial cannot be edited.
    3. Checked COTD Terms & Conditions and tried emailing the Help Desk: "IAW your Club Catch Terms and Conditions at https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/club-catch-terms I formally request to have my account cancelled and to have any credit card details deleted." After repeated requests I get a reply asking me to confirm that I want my membership cancelled. Finally I think it's been done - but I've no way to confirm that my credit card details are also deleted.

Hello Ted. Welcome to Catch of the Day.
How may I help you today?

    Ted 02:02:58 pm
I would like to cancel my account please.

    Carla 02:03:38 pm
Just to clarify, that's Catch of the day account, right?

    Ted 02:04:18 pm
Correct. My email address registered with the account is ..***@gmail.com

    Carla 02:04:48 pm
You can manage the information we store in your account by simply logging in to the desktop site and going to the "Personal Details" and "Addresses" tabs of your account.
If you do not want any personal information stored, edit your details here. Note that to save the changes, mandatory fields cannot be left blank, so we suggest typing random characters into mandatory fields, for example:
    Email: [email protected]
Please note for name and address fields, also use random characters, not actual names which may not be your own. After making relevant changes, remember to click 'Save'. You can also delete any saved credit card details entirely through your account by simply clicking 'Remove Card' under the 'Saved Card' tab.

    Ted 02:06:29 pm
To repeat my request I want to delete/remove/cancel my Catch of the Day account. I do not want to remove personal information etc.

    Carla 02:08:27 pm
Yes, unfortunately, we do not have an option to delete accounts, what you can do instead is to change the details of your account into a dummy email address instead and I will remove you from our mailing list

    Ted 02:11:15 pm
Please confirm that you CANNOT cancel accounts. This is unacceptable and contrary to Australian Consumer Standards.

    Carla 02:13:04 pm
I understand that Ted, that is why I am advising you to please change the email address on your account and change it with a made up one

    Ted 02:14:59 pm
I'm sorry but that is still unacceptable. I require a reference number for this so I can take further action.

    Carla 02:17:01 pm
I understand that however we cannot delete as we need your purchase history for warranty & auditing reasons.
You can unsubscribe & deactivate your account by removing their credit card & also change the details within their account

    Ted 02:17:49 pm
Please provide a reference number for this session.

    Carla 02:18:12 pm
    Sure. I can do that.
would there be anything else that I can assist you with?
as the chat needs to be closed first before I can give you a reference number

    Ted 02:20:32 pm
To confirm what you have stated: You cannot cancel my account and I have to put false data in my email and credit fields under my account!

    Carla 02:20:56 pm
A made up account, that is right.

    Ted 02:23:06 pm
And you can confirm that I will NOT get charge a recurring membership fee and that my current data will be removed from Catch of the Day.

    Carla 02:23:48 pm
Yes, as long as you have made a "made up" account
I have also removed you from our mailing list

    Ted 02:25:40 pm
Thank you. Can you ensure that I reference number is generated for this?

    Carla 02:26:13 pm
Yes, as mentioned earlier once we are done with our chat, I'll give it to you
would there be anything else that I can assist you with?

    Ted 02:26:43 pm
    No thank you.

    Carla 02:28:13 pm
    Okay. It's 12345678.

    Ted 02:28:42 pm
    Thanks.

    Carla 02:29:00 pm
    you're welcome
    have a great day

    • Isn't it just uncheck the "Renew my subscription before it expires" should stop membership to be renewed (charge your card) i believe?
And you don't want your cc detail to be retained? I think most site will retain your details even you have "cancelled" you membership anyway. :(

      • Your right re the "uncheck" option but your credit card details are still retained. Plus I don't trust COTD as they have had their data compromised in the past and they didn't let members know about it.

  • Yep watch out for the so called 'free' membership. They will ding your card and continue to do so.
Phones not available and emailing has had no effect.
Catch is certainly a good name for the part of the business … I got caught!

    • You may cancel your subscription by contacting our Help Desk or writing to us via email at [email protected] before your subscription renewal date.
