Self Balancing Scooter

Hi

A friend was asking on where to get a self balancing scooter. I did some looking and ebay/aliexpress have them from around $400:

I came across this website but I am not sure if it is a scam:

The 6 month warranty seems handy compared to ebay. I couldn't find an abn on the website.

Please let me know if there is somewhere better to find on or if self balancing scooters can be trusted.

    For leisure or for commute? Unfortunately these are probably illegal on the road or on footpath :(

      Yes, of course, everything is illegal in Australia. So, are electric powered bicycles also illegal? They aren't registered either and what about the impatient old pensioners speeding around the place on their gophers? Many joggers would be moving at similar speeds to these scooters, so someone on one of these would pose no more danger to pedestrians than a jogger and much less so than someone on a bike.

      Little bit different in VIC:

      Your motorised scooter is classed as a motor vehicle if it:

      is powered by a petrol motor 
has a maximum power of more than 200 watts
can go faster than 10 km/h.

      If your motorised scooter is classed as a motor vehicle it can only be used on the road if it is registered and the rider has a motorcycle licence or learner permit. But, you can use it on private property.

    I have seen one for $250 on ebay before ( like 2 weeks ago), but they did say they were running low on supply.
