None of the Casio G-Shocks with built-in thermometers will be accurate when on the wrist due to radiant body heat. They need to sit for about 5 minutes on a table and then they'll be good. They are amazingly accurate given their size and extremely limited power consumption.

    • It's kind of disappointing that the only G-Shocks or Casio watches for that matter featured on OzBargain regularly are all of the most pedestrian, budget G-Shocks that invariably have the most garish, chunky, retro-looking and juvenile aesthetics; which is what still gives people this impression that Casio can't make anything other than the "Bill Gates special", the nerdy-looking calculator wrist watch that looks as if it's lifted from a 1980s Hollywood concept sketch of spy technology.

I recently picked up this Edifice ERA-300DB off Ebay. Before that I got the GA-1000 Aviator G-Shock. And before that the limited edition Mudman GW-9300GB Carbon Fiber. And before that the ProTrek PAW5000-1. Next to go into my collection might be this or this. All of those are perfectly sensible, well-featured and damn nice looking for their intended purposes, and they look a damn sight more interesting the universally-worn, 3-dial, stainless steel chronographs from Citizen, Seiko or Pulsar worn by every white collar-employed male over the age of 20 who is too poor to go for a Tissot or a Tudor or something. I mean sure, I don't wear G-Shocks to a board meeting, but you really don't need your pompous, leather-strapped, minimalist Swiss watch just to go to the shops; and it is nice to have a watch where each careless bump of the wrist doesn't have you scrambling to inspect your several thousand wristwatch for scratches.

Casio make literally thousands of watches across many differing ranges with widely differing target audiences; there is something for everyone in there. But sadly, most people have no idea those above watches exist and still think Casio just makes stupid, chunky, rainbow-coloured sh*t for kids.

G shock is actually $60. With the club catch $50+ is free postage. Source: I am $60 poorer.

  • G shock sold out.

  • Great value for that g shock, added it to the collection. Great to have functional watches to wear that you don't have to be scared of knocking or scratching.
