The Bin 28 is named after the Kalimna vineyard that was purchased back in 1945 and from which the original fruit was sourced from.     I know it's personal taste, but for $25 you can buy better for sure, just get myself 6 pepperjack for $90, beat this any time.

      Very much agree with you on this,but just comparing bin 28 and pepper jack , bin 28 will age a lot better, pepper jack is more like a "fruit bomb" kinda wine, better to drink when it is young. For $25 there is a lot more options to choose from.i bought the bin 28 2009 less than $18/bottle from store, you can see how much penfolds has jack up the price.

    quick question here. I'm not familiar with any red wine but when I was in a bottle shop last time and asked for penfolds28/8. They were $99 instead of $20-30 range from what I can remember. Is there any difference between Penfolds28, different years?

      $99 total ripoff as a new wine but even as a old vintage say 98 or later.$99 can get you a Wynns John riddoch( which i still thinks it's overpriced).
