Save up to 40% off Car Servicing

    What are your prices?

It isn't a bargain if I can get it cheaper elsewhere…

…and what exactly do you mean by 'up to'? Is it random?

  • very flawed website. my car is a 2011 model (Audi A6) and the newest it will accept is 2004!

  • Hi jv,

FixedPricecarservice.com.au a comparison website so we compare a variety of servicing (logbook or general) by make/model.

    Cheers,
    Peter

I filled in my details and it said to service it at Midas a couple of suburbs away from me.
I looked them up and they have quite poor reviews on Google…

Not much point is saving $20 and getting a crap job done on my car….

FPCSA is not a party to, or responsible for, any service provided by a Workshop to you.

This worries me. They take no responsibility for the workshop they recommend to you.

This seems incredibly standard for a price comparison service.

      • for a price comparison service.

They are also a 'booking' service… Not unlike a travel agent…

    • I'm sure they will take the $$$ for the workshop they recommend to you…..I too am worried and will give this site the big miss

Actually found the site useful a couple of months back as it provided me with a good list of local mechanics and garages to compare, the top one offered was well rated and in fact turned out I drove past it 4 times a day but never noticed it.

However I got a cheaper deal going with the same garage through another offer and not booking through this site.

Obviously it's area dependant as to whether you will find a good place/deal.

hmm, just searched for my car.. $480 for oil, coolant and spark plug change… For that price I'd do it myself!

    • +3

For that price I'll do 4 car's with premium parts.

This is no deal & deserves a neg

      • Your labour and experience is free though right? Not everyone can DIY.

I'd like to see how'd you do oil, filter, coolant and plugs for $120 on a half modern car.

If you so incapable and lazy to watch a YouTube clip on how to do a typical service on a vehicle you should be the only one that gets ripped off at the mechanics :)

It's basic stuff dude, stick with a push bike

          @bti_jet:
Nice. You're so great that you can watch YouTube. My comment stands. Im capable of doing it if I want but many are not. People don't want to spend time so pay someone else to do it.

I have used this service in the past after contacting a number of mechanics for a standard log book service and being quoted $250+ which I thought was ridiculous.

Found a mechanic down the road at half the price who I never knew existed and he is great.

I've used this website before and found it good - for finding local mechanics and comparing their prices for (the same) log book service.
Found a local family mechanic business, with good user reviews on the site and Google, and have been very happy with the service and the prices (cheaper than AutoLeaders or UltraTune etc).

If you just want an oil/filter change - you are probably better off using a $99 shopper-docket deal (or do it yourself).

But if you want a full log book service (especially if car still in warranty), but dont want to pay dealer prices, and want to compare the price of several local mechanics quickly (and not waste time making a heap of phone calls) then its not bad. YMMV.

As someone else said above, its a good site for finding local mechanics within 5KM of your post code (and sorting by price) that you may not even know exist.

  • just service my car last week - toyota aution 2011 . logbook service quote $850, they told me toyota do log book for $1500. i m shocked and i choose the general one for $220 for oil and filter change, rotate wheels, air filter… first time I go for service so no experience. the guy there suggest me to do brake flush and bell drive and brake pads like logbook suggest and just pay $600 more as those parts too old and could damage car and have to pay big money to fix. i said i will thinking and come back Tuesday that is today : | .i just bought this car 8 months ago at melbourne cheapest car and get service by them before drive away. i check the brake fluid at home and see it still very clean. do i get ripped off?

    • Sounds dodgy. Did you get a second option from another mechanic?

  • what do you guys reckon of this livingsocial deal?

    Service Includes:

    • Heating and cooling system check
    • Check and inspection of all brakes
    • Check and inspection of steering, suspension and exhaust system
    • 101-point safety inspection
    • Lube service (including up to 5L of oil) and oil filter change
    • Replacement of spark plugs
    • Air filter replacement
    • Emissions service and fuel line system clean
    • Pressure test

not bad for $49 considering the oil, oil filter, spark plugs and air filter would cost at least that much if you bought it yourself.
