    $82.50 here, $59.90 at Bunnings.

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/osram-36w-cool-white-lumilux-fluo…

Standing by for "Yeah nah mate, those ones have cheap Chinese batteries and last-generation gyroscopes and ours are better just because" in 3… 2… 1…

    • +1

This one is Longlife fluro with 40000hrs

Its is GE, bunnings sell OSRAM with 20000hrs, there is difference…

      • -1

… aaaand, there ya go! :-)

        • +1

If you have to pay someone to replace them, expected life is a valid consideration.

@doulasb Your logic is pretty poor. For every product on the market there is always a different product selling for less.
Cadbury chocolate on sale - bad deal you can get nestle cheaper.
Canon camera on sale - Nikon has one for less.
Deal on a Holden - Toyota has one on sale.
iPhone on $200 off - Android $250 off.

Seriously, unless you can find the same brand and product cheaper your comments hold little weight.

Though you are also in your right to provide info on alternatives, but you are trying to imply they are the same.

        • @deal88:

unless you can find the same brand and product cheaper your comments hold little weight.

that not strictly true, often you can find similar products cheaper that might even be better quality…

        • @deal88:

Rubbish. You're trying to compare apples and oranges, I'm comparing apples and apples. It's a flourescent tube. They make all kinds of outlandish claims on life knowing full well that no-one will check how long the tubes really last. You said yourself, you sell lighting, so you know that people use the long life claim as a way to bump up the price on otherwise identical products. My comparison is of an equivalent quality, identical purpose/size/power-rating product. My comparison is entirely valid.

        • @douglasb: Wow. You really do know nothing about lighting. There are products for people like you and i would suggest that these ones are for a different level of customer.

In my experience the outlandish claims come from the new Asian suppliers, not the established ones.

        • @deal88:

You're absolutely right, they are for a different level of customer: the level of customer that's dumb enough to fall for a meaningless sales pitch.

You're mentally locked in the old American "features and benefits" style sales thinking, combined with the standard small businessman's "they're cheaper than me so their product must be poorer than mine", unable to comprehend that someone might work harder to produce an equivalent or better product at a lower price. Thinking like that produces an inflexibility and an unwillingness to adapt that leads many businesses to fail.

      • always wondered what would happen if it lasts less than 4000hrs ?
Will I get a refund or not ?
        Please clarify

        • They will refurbish it for you.

        • It is actually 40000 hours.
I was in the industry and i will give you my feedback.
40000 hours is a value determined in a lab some may last 35000 some may be 50000 but by the test 40000 is determined.
I would only trust this value from a reputable company like Osram, GE, Philips, Sylvania.
Chinese brands stating long life i would be suspect about.

Most lamps that have a fault show up early in the first few weeks, these would be replaced.
Also lamp life is also effected by you starter and housing.
I personally would not replace a Flouro tube without also replacing the starter.

The other issue is loss of light over time. The cheaper flouros can be at 50% light output after 12 months.
Usually the more expensive tubes loose less light over their life time.

        • @deal88:

Mazda fluro's seem like the way to go, mine is still working but must be so old as they haven't sold fluros for a long time!

        • @samfisher5986: That is an issue people have. Some fluoros will still work for years, but will only be putting out half of the light.

    • As a former lighting seller, I can say your comparisons do not make sense.
Not that the Osrams ones are bad, they are just not the same as the ones being sold by the OP.

      • Never said OSRAM is bad, we are selling it too. Just mentioned it is Longlife fluro with 40000hrs

        • +1

          Longlife fluro with 40000hrs

the hour ratings are BS anyway… Especially for fluoro globes.

    • +3

      dude, lighten up.

  • "Lumen 3,350 Lm"

Sorry, but I'm skeptical! That'd be the same lumens per watt as many LEDs!

    • +1

They have similar efficiency. Are you surprised?

  • Expensive coz of hours?

    • It is for 25 4Ft tubes of a good brand.

  • yea.. might be ;)

  • +1

I have my whole shop replaced with the GE 40,000 hours and although it lasts longer than OSRAM, it died and flickered less than half of the stated hours.
