For that effect, why not put it on the bathroom door instead?

    • goes well… goes well…

using good as an adverb is only ok if you have the role of an american hillbilly :p

Installed mine over the weekend replacing the old deadbolt. It has a random key feature that you can activate (to prevent fingerprint phishing)… am impressed at how well it works. Just youtube for the video to:

Am definitely getting another one for the rear door.

Thanks for the feedback, I might have a go tonight and in the morning. I bought a pack of 10 batteries (as I bought 2 of the locks) yesterday.
Both doors already have a round deadbolt we dont use, so may not need to do any drilling.

  • I am comparing between this keyless touch screen deadbolt and
    https://m.masters.com.au/product/900009294/lockwood-deadlatc…

I want to install it in the front door.

Which one is better in terms of security and functionality?

Even better, this product is now available online (Click and Collect, or delivery), so you can stack the 10% discount code MASTERS10 with CashRewards.

Price after discount is $89.10 (what I paid for a couple, in store), but after ~$3.12 cashback the net price is $86 (give or take 2 cents).

I searched on eBay and Amazon and there are plenty of these types of digital locks going for $150-300+ so $80something is pretty sharp.

I installed my first one today. Was a piece of cake, as it fit right where our 15 year old deadbolt (that we didnt use) was.
The hardest part was chiseling/drilling a larger hole in the doorframe to fit the dust box, and larger strikeplate.

The metal strikeplate screws right into the studs in the wall, using much longer screws than the old ones that just held the strikeplate onto the cosmetic doorframe.
The beeping is a little loud for night time, even on quiet, so might disable it. I also disabled the 4-digit random numbers it wanted pressed first, since we are using 6-digit pins instead of 4.

Also, first thing I did was change the master programming PIN from 12345678 to custom. I dont think its of any use externally, without being able to press the settings button inside, but just to be safe.

One small problem I did have, is I wanted to change the door latch cover from the factory fitted rounded corner one, to square, to fit the existing chiseled hole. The instructions say to pry the factory fitted one off and fit the supplied square one, but I found the (brass?) metal it was attached to just bent. So in the end, I left it on. Hardly ever look at the edge of the door anyway.

I installed a 3rd one over the weekend.

A few suggestions / best practices:

DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE 8 DIGIT MASTER CODE FROM 12345678

… as I realised that code is not just a programming code, but also unlocks the door.

Set your own pin codes, don't use the master code as your daily pin code.

Don't program your house alarm code as a pin code!

Also dont program your Eftpos / credit card pin as a door lock pin as it's easy and common practice for scumbags to read pins at shops.

And given it may be months / years before you need the programming code again, be sure to store it in a safe place - preferably in a Password Safe application on your computer.

These days we all need dozens or hundreds (I have over 250) logins to websites and emails and forums and online shopping etc etc. I'd be lost without a digital password safe. With a strong access password (since it protects all others). Backed up on cloud storage (Dropbox, Google drive, Onedrive etc and also offline USB stick) and accessible on my mobile phone too (via the cloud storage).

  • Am I doing something wrong online it's coming up as $139??

    • For me too, they have put the price up $40
