Toys R Us / Baby Bunting: Johnson's 480 Baby Wipes (6x 80 Packs) $12.98 or $12.20 CW pricebeat

330

On clearance at Toys R Us. Couldn't find it at my local toys r us store, but bought it at Baby Bunting who did a price match with Toys R Us' price.

$12.98 for the Fragrance Free Wipes
$12.98 for the Skincare Lotion Wipes

As a price comparison, the 240 packs usually sell for $12.99. So it's double the value.

I know deal may not be applicable to everyone. But with a newborn, have been going through wipes like crazy and at the hospital, they used Johnsons wipes and found them to be ok so just continued using them.

Or as kelasen commented, can be purchased for $12.20 with Chemist Warehouse pricebeat

If you don't mind Coles brand you can also get these for $10 (normal price - has been this price for years)

We have used these on our lad who has eczema and allergies and they are great (and the cheapest you can buy - even cheaper than Aldi - and much better quality)

    • new bub coming out soon, good to know this information.
      Thanks rehab.

        • They're quite thin and dry. I wish I'd tried them out before buying in bulk. Svlowly working my way through the 480 pack with gritted teeth. I had to buy another brand, and keep these for small jobs only.

        • It's machine washable???? really??

          Extra Info

Contains 6 packs of 80 wipes

        • @deeevan:

Take note of the above comment, as a guy that has more baby poo under his finger nails and on his hands than he would like or appreciate - Saving money on thin, not wet wipes is false economy. Wait for the huggies brand to go on special if you have time on your side. We haven't kept a log on wipes but we are up to 600 nappies with our daughter after 8 weeks.

        • Yeah, also $9 at Kmart. http://www.kmart.com.au/product/baby-wipes---pack-of-480/119…

Disclaimer: I don't have kids; I use the wipes to clean my bike and around the house.

I might give the Target ones a go next time. They're 19x18 cm, whereas the Kmart ones are 19x16 cm. Just need to compare the thickness and the "cleaning ability".

Then here's a few more tips. BigW baby section has quite some decent things. Home safety proofing (for when he/she is crawling/walking) can be done at bunnings.

Avoid shops with the word "baby" in it. It'll be overpriced.

        • thanks. was going to look for the home proofing, but that's not until later.

I LOVE BUNNINGS!!!! I could spend hours there

          @kwetiaw:

Then perhaps it's cheaper to go to a baby store…

        • @Martijn: hahahaha. yeah thats true. i usually scan every aisles, typical DIY-ers

    • +1 on Coles baby wipes, they are awesome and much better than a couple of other brands we have used. :D

  • Not as good as the 25 boxes @ $2 a box i got a year ago at woolies but good price for branded product.

Mate, as a doctor in a hospital and whose partner is a midwife, no hospital recommends any baby wipes. Johnson and Johnson give them to hospital for free and people think exactly what you are saying above. Please remove comment that they are recommended by hospitals.

They are only used in hospital because it saves maternity wards some costs.

      +10.000 on this.

It's smart marketing… not an endorsement.
      Just like huggies, etc.

When we had our kids at hospital, the staff recommended cotton wool and water, not wipes.

  • Great value.Does anyone happen to know if these are made in Australia?

    • Most probably not…I think the only ones Made in Australia are Aldi and the Red Nose Wipes, I think there's also another brand which I'm not sure the name of.

  • Can i store these for next 6 months and use?

  • How are these compare to Huggies or Curash or Rednose?

    • Huggies tend to leave fuzz. Johnsons are also stronger. Didn't try the other brands.

Also as a tip, the liquid in the pack of wipes tends to "sink" down and the top wipes are usually drier than the ones on the bottom. Either store upside-down and turn upright when using or we keep them in a Huggies plastic box and keep rotating after each wipe.

      • Thanks for the tips on sinking down and flip over

    • Huggies, Curash and Kirkland (Costco) wipes are my go to wipe.. used Johnsons in the hospital and they're alright. From memory not as wet as Curash or Huggies.

      • Yes I tried Huggies, they are fine but bit expensive. Curash is good too bit cheaper I find them as wet if not better than Huggies but not as thick.

At the hospital they didn't even give Johnsons & Johnsons, they give the dry ones, and you need to put water over them to use. That's even more cheap

However I just read this page, after that I think all of them are bad? http://blog.hellocharlie.com.au/2015/06/safer-natural-baby-w…

They don't rate that well against cheaper brands.

have tried dri bots from target and mammia from aldi.. not worth saving $2-$3 for a 480 pack.. huggies is way much better, stronger… others are a bit dry and small in size too..
havent tried coles or woolies… Huggies when on sale you get the 484 pack for $14

    • Edited.. misunderstood comment to be about Nappies not wipes. Huggies wipes are good when on sale you can get em cheap!

  • We've been happy with the Woolworths Once Upon a Time brand. Usually around $15 for 480 (6 x 80 packs), but regularly go on special for around $10ish. Got given Johnson & Johnson at baby shower and hated them. Everyone is different though..

Bought it for $12.20 from CW after price beat.

  • My 2c worth. My baby had some sensitive skin I think. Before she was born I was the good OZB and bought the massive cheap pack of huggies wipes but they sent her skin raw. Switched to Curash which was worse, then to that bamboo brand (?) also no good for my kid. In the end I used the really expensive Water Wipes brand which you can only get from Coles. Pretty much the only ingredient is water, but it worked, no more irritation. Had to stock up when Coles discounted at $5.50 a packet (usually $7!), I was the guy buy 20 packets :F.

Now she is older I've switched up to using the Woolworths Once Upon a Time brand. Good value for $2.50 and I still use Water Wipes every few nappy changes if the bum is getting a little red.
