1680
FASTARSE

SanDisk has just released a new range of Ultra cards that are twice as fast as the previous Ultra models. With a rated maximum transfer speed of 80MB/s, these should handle a lot of demanding applications. This is the cheapest price anywhere by a fair margin.

Card comes complete with SD adapter. Limited to one per customer, and will be dispatched immediately from PC Byte's Sydney warehouse. Apply coupon FASTARSE at checkout & select free shipping. Have a great day :)

Many thanks to Thrift for running this test after he received the card. Awesome results!

  • Thanks, TA. Probably don't need it, but bought anyway.

  • Huh.. Expired already ! I just open this afternoon..

  • Why the price is $39.95 not $33.95?

    • See the big red "Expired" notifications at the top.

      Hi Astro551,

Glad to hear on the fast shipping =)
PM you, and I will guide you on the formatting.

      Regards
      Francesca

    • That would indicate FAT16 (just "FAT" usually means FAT16) instead of FAT32/ FAT16 is limited to 2GB filesystems. Perhaps that's the problem?

Did you partition it? Usually these cards will come partitioned and formatted already. Do it via Disk Manager.

Edit: Missed the bit on the right stating exFAT. That should work. Either way use Disk Manager if you're not sure what you're doing.

  • Wow ordered yesterday about 1pm. Today received the card already. Fast!! In Sydney.

  • Received today also. Great shipping!
Also can confirm up to 80MB/s read speed, even through the adapter.

    • The adapter is just a wiring adapter so shouldn't affect speeds which will be more dictated by your card reader.

    • Received mine today too. Didn't test read speed but I did test write speed and got about 20MB/s. I dont know if it's my adapter bottlenecking but I'm happy with these speeds. Much better than the atrocious 5MB/s on other "class 10" generic microSD

  • Top marks to Francesca for sorting out the partial refund for my order, I had forgotten to add the voucher code.

PCByte is a really good retailer…sharp prices and impeccable service so far.

    Also, Thanks TA!

  • My card arrived yesterday woohoo — I think there may be different batches as I'm getting nowhere the higher speed write rates others have quoted - averaging around 17mb here write rate. The read rate is around 75Mb per sec so that's pretty sweet. Might try a different USB adapter (currently using Lexar professional usb3).

    • Card readers/writers often have a significant performance impact so yes definitely I would try another. Surprising that read is quite good but write not so much.

      • Tried a different card reader, same result ~18mb write sequential sustained and around 75mb sustained read…

Reckon I might wait for the next extreme flavor version rather than the ultra.

        • USB3 card readers? Into USB3 port?

        • Do you get faster speeds with other cards, like Extremes?

        • @Gav:
Obviously or 75 MB/s wouldn't be possible. Note it's not 75mb or 75Mb per second. Lower case b means bits not bytes.

        • @Shonky: This is OzB mate, assume nothing. :)

        • @Gav:

Yes its USB3 :) and I've tried 2 computers and three different USB3 readers, same results.

The card starts at around 32 MByte/s for around a second right at the beginning, tapers to around 22 for 2-3 seconds then averages out to 16.2 per sec (read rate 72.5).

For comparison using the same reader, on the same computer just now (with content already on cards)

          Samsung 32Gb Pro (microsd) 63 MBytes/s write, 75 read
Samsung 64Gb Pro (sd) 37.8MByte/s write, 67.7 read
          Sandisk Extreme 64Gb : 40.7 MBytes/s write, 41.8 read
          Sandisk Extreme Plus 32Gb : 56.6 Mbytes/s write, 77.3 read
          Panasonic 32Gb SD 41.5 MBytes/s write, 75.8 read

Apologies for any confusion by using the little m instead of big M

        • @digitalaxon: Do you still have the packaging? Is part # SDSDQUA-064G-UQ46A (the last 5 characters are most important)

PS - you have a lot of cards! lol.

        • @Gav:

          I've built up quite a collection :) … The part is #SDSDQUA-064G-UQ46A…

        • @digitalaxon: You've got the newer version then. Not sure what else it could be, sorry.

        • @Gav:

I'm not too stressed over it - its the perfect card for 1080P AVCHD recorders as the camera wont ever record more than 27mbit per second, and then at 75Mb per sec downloading rate means all that content can be quickly transferred back to my pc so its all good…

I was hoping at the 45Mb per sec rate that it might work in my BMPCC but I get about 10 seconds before it starts skipping frames — oh well.. Still its a good price for 64gb.
