Fifa 16 (at least previous generation) has had a big price drop, now undercutting other deals from Target and Big W. There's also the Deluxe Edition on PS3/Xbox 360 for $75.20, which is slightly more than Mighty Ape had it, but they are no longer listing the product. Good deal in comparison to the RRP. The next gen deals aren't as good but are on par with other stores as well as Mighty Ape

      Only if you play FUT

      40 premium gold packs is worth 6000 FIFA points (Cost around $78)

      The extra $20 on top of the standard version is worth it for me.

      Ultimate Team is the main reason why I am upgrading from Fifa 14 (Servers will be off in February) so the Deluxe would be better for me

      I think it has a lot more to do with the volume of sales, being one of the most popular annual release titles that is released, the cheaper prices by Big W forced the other retailers to lower their price as the volume they will sell with smaller margin profit will lead to larger profit plus potential additional item spending (also JB would purchase the largest quantity out of the big 3 retailers) selling this game cheap therefore having a potential cheaper wholesale rate so they can afford to lower the price more than the others.

      But if they don't lower the price they could be left with a lot of excess stock they cant move if people go buy it from Target or Big W instead and since the bulk of sales for this game would most likely be purchased in the first week of release having the right release price is crucial.

      Or you could be EB and charge $110 and not move many units but make triple your competitors in profit per unit and be lucky to make the same amount of profit as them.

        Mostly it has to do with the fact is is an annual release.

        Same thing happens to other sport titles and COD, Ass creed etc.

        The yearly cycle for these games leading into the holiday period is all about planned obsolescence.

        If you wait until Feb/Mar after most are done with these games, youll get them for $20-$30 on ebay , gumtree etc

          Actually I didn't. I thought most parents savvied up to their over inflated prices and it was just he few grandparents and maybe really young kids that fall for their ridiculous over the top RRP sale prices.

          I guess OzBargain isn't common knowledge for everyone ;(

          @yacman: It's amazing to see people go there and pay full retail price when a few shops away they could be getting it for $20-$30 cheaper at somewhere like JB (which probably isn't the cheapest option either). I actually used to go into EB just to see the newest titles and told people in the register line that it was cheaper at 'x' place out of spite for EB, bloody ludicrous pricing.

          Douche move, you're just making the employees look bad for doing their job.

          Also to be fair, EB doesn't have the ability (like every other store that sells games does) of selling other things in the store to the customer to gain profit. Big W, JB, Target etc. can afford to sell their games at minimal margin - or even a loss - because the customer could walk out with a TV or sound system, which gives them enough profit to cover a few hundred more game sales.

          Furthermore, though EB is more expensive, you generally get extra stuff with it if you pre-order (even though I hate that publishers hold that stuff back from the customers in the first place).

      If you are going to play Ultimate Team pre-ordering is worth it, deluxe edition if you are a hard core for Ultimate Team, otherwise no reason to.

      If you want to play online, you will have to upgrade. Fifa 16 looks like a minor upgrade and fifa 15 was a minor upgrade, so I would say it's moderately better.

    Important to note guys that the Gold packs are received at a rate of one per week. Not all at once. So you will still have a povo team for a while.

      I was able to price match when I pre-ordered FIFA, but that was 3-4 years ago.

      However, I didn't get the bonus stuff that comes with pre-ordered copies of the game. From memory, it was something for online (I think this was before UT existed) that I didn't care about anyway. The bonus stuff wasn't offered by target/big w/whomever I wanted them to price match so I thought that was pretty reasonable

    Waiting for FIFA 16 eagerly.
    Have been buying FIFA for a decade- have FIFA 06 on PS2 and then all versions of FIFA games released since 2008, including doubles- for PS3 and PS4.
