there you go, no longer a bargain at $13

        • +2

          Save $2

        • +5

@jv: at the expense of buying a $2 sim

        • +13

@jv: there you go, you paid monies for the benefit

        • +12

@jv: a BIG WOOP for you! Congratulations

        • -2

          @Aceboy884:

          Congratulations

Thank you. I was so excited when I first used it. I got goosebumps…

        • @jv: you bought a modem so it's not free

        • -1

          @Orpheus:

you bought a modem so it's not free

the sim card was free, I only paid for the modem… (also got it at half price)

        • +1

@jv: How can it be FREE, if you PAID for it?

        • -1

          @Orpheus:

How can it be FREE, if you PAID for it?

Because normally, they would have charged me $2 extra for it.

        • +2

@jv: but you paid for IT

        • -2

          @Orpheus:

          but you paid for IT

The modem, not the SIM card

        • +11

@jv: It's not free if you have to pay to obtain it. If you didn't pay for the modem, you wouldn't have gotten the sim card. By your logic, the $50 eBay voucher from the other day should have been listed as a freebie, because hey, free* voucher!

          *with minimum $100 spend

  • Please add that it is movie tickets as Telstra also has movie rentals and I think digital purchases.

  • +2

    Belongs to the forum!

  • +3

Great find OP. Don't think everyone is getting the point that it's free. Getting a sim, registering it then having to top it up before it expires is a pain in the ass.

    • +4

Don't think everyone is getting the point that it's free.

      It's $11, not free…

    • +1

registering it then having to top it up before it expires i

You account remains active even after the credit expires…

      • -1

        But not forever……..

        • +5

          But not forever……..

I've got an old one that still on the account for almost 2 years…

As long as it's listed on your account, you account will be active…

        • @jv: oh so almost 2 years is now forever?

    • +17

prime example of, "pain in the ass"

    • +3

My expired sim log in still works. Sim is lifeless for about 2 years

    • +2

this deal is presented nicely but in reality its only saving people $2 and 5 minutes of their time to activate a sim, not sure why everyones attacking jv, his point is perfectly valid

      • +2

^ this. Nice deal but cmon I thought everybody knew this

anyone want to watch sicaro 1:30pm session at hornsby?

    • +14

Are you a hot woman with low self-esteem?

      • he's a hot asian single in your area

    • Don't mind the haters. I'd be tempted if Hornsby weren't so far away haha

  • +1

Keep in mind this is really only useful for mostly capital city-based people. Country cinemas are not well supported.

    • Yeah I have to use Optus $10 tickets instead.

    • 😱

    • They've got country cinemas? 😱

  • +5

Event cinemas have very arrogant booking fees system. Thanks OP we can bypass that with this deal.

    • There's no booking fee with Tel$tra tickets

  • -5

Please note a booking fee is charged per ticket/car booked online. $1.20 per standard or Vmax ticket and $3.25 per Gold Class ticket. If required, 3D glasses fee is $1.00 per ticket for all 3D ticket types.

    • +11

Pretty sure you dont have to pay booking fee when using optus/telstra voucher.

  • +4

Optus hoyts there is no booking fee when booking a movie online…3D there is a $3 upgrade fee.

  • +1

lets see how long this lasts..

  • +1

Not sure if it's universal, but greater union in the ACT gives you a further $1 off and a small popcorn if you pay with Visa Checkout.

    "Telstra Movie"?
Am curious, is it drama, horror or slapstick? I've experienced all three with Telstra, and all genres in between (except "feel good").

    • Even rom com? Do tell.

  • +5

Thanks for posting and making it public. Now expect the link to be fixed by Telstra tomorrow.

    • +17

Now expect the link to be fixed by Telstra tomorrow.

      Not by their IT Department.

The Business Case alone will take them a month to complete…

      • +1

And once they proceed to make the changes, they'll take down the wrong link.

        • or they will incorrectly credit every customer with $30

      • Think they'll just hotfix this defect and end up taking the whole production system down with it.

      • You were wrong jv Matt Damon doesn't die. Ha ha, ha ha ha.

    • Depends who their rewards provider is.

Good chance they won't unless they monitor it.

  • +4

Legendary OP, looks like I'm going to see the Martian.

  • +3

wow.. I never knew about the free movies.

    • Me neither ! After so many years as a Telstra customer too. Family movie night on Thursdays from now on. :)

    • I notice now that it's on the 24x7 app too.

    • Been listed as deals for quite a while
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185581 (3 movie)
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145618 (1 movie)

Hidden on 24x7 app under Thanks movies - purchase - Thanks Thursdays - get code

(I put reminder on phone for Thursdays with link to free movies.)

  • This will come in handy, thanks op

  • Great deal but no good movie worth the $11

    • There's plenty upcoming, but only one worth watching now…

      • Which one's that?

    • I saw The Gift last week, it's worth $11. So is Straight Outta Compton, if you like hip-hop. Everest is supposed to be okay too

    • How about The Martian?

  • -5

Can someone post what the 3 free movies are today?? I dont want to create an account jaudt to find out its old rubbish. Ty.

  • Good movies according to rotten tomatoes:
    - The Martian 93% - ambivalent, will check out other reviews to confirm.
    - Sicario 90% HYYYPE
    - Straight Outta Compton 90% - not the movie we wanted, but the movie we deserved.
    - The Gift 93% - watched it earlier and felt over-rated. Your Mileage May Vary.
