HP Deskjet F2480 Multifunction printer $39 @ Officeworks

60

Officeworks currently have the HP F2480 for $39. This is at least $6 cheaper than I've found it anywhere else. The price is available in-store or online (but postage will be extra). This bargain is also featured on the front page of the current OW catalog.

  • I clicked the link and it says Deskjet D2660 in the header and F2480 in the description. I think officeworks stuffed up the listing. This definately looks like the Deskjet F2480 going by the specs and picture. Although HP lists both these printers at the same price.

  • remember to buy the "X" series ink - usually have double the lifespan!

cheaper to buy a new printer when the ink runs out than to buy new ink cartridges…!

    • lol this is always the case these days!

      • so does anyone actually do this (ie buy a new printer when their ink runs out)??

        • I do, but generally only when they include a regular ink/toner cartridge rather than starter ones.

        • After my inkjet kept on drying up whenever I wanted to use it I swapped to a laser printer and print photos at a shop. Rarely need to print out anything else in colour.

    • The cartridges that are supplied with the printers are not completely full.

Manufacturers normally take a hit on the printers so that they can sting you with the cartridges.

  • Does anyone have the prices for the cartridges?

    • Click on the officeworks link above, shows HP60 black cartridge is around $24 and HP60 Tri-colour cartridge is around $27, so $51 for the set.

      • You might get 30 pages out of this printer before this ink runs out, so really it's $39 for the printer + $51 for full carts. Not looking that good, is it?

I'm not suggesting this (and all the other "cheap" inkjet printers) deal is cheap in long run, to the contrary really. But for those hell bent on buying low cost inkjets then this deal is ok.

Personally, I'd rather buy a Samsung ML-1640 laser printer, which is currently priced on DSE website for $83 (or $79 in the Canberra store). It also comes with a starter toner but at least it's rated for 700 pages.

  • I should've mentioned this is also on the front page of their current catalog.

  • The thing with the HP F2480 Multifunction printer is that it doesn't include the data cable to connect to your PC. This adds on average $7-$10.
