  • Shredder looks similar to: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/rexel-50-au…

Possible price beat in the near future

  • hope they advertise the components of the bike.

    • They do.

Here is a link to the review they mention. Not much info about how it rides, more of an article about the pros and cons of buying a bike in a box

      http://flowmountainbike.com/features/350-bike-in-a-box/

      • that review was a waste of time, so I went out and bought one and wrote a review my self.

    • Bought 1 the other day, first day of sale and first person in the store and they only had 2 on the floor (1 colour and 2 sizes M and L), what a joke aldi!

Builder spec (me): Bicycle enthusiast / Mechanic

      Full specs

Brakes: Tektro mechanial disc (disc size to be confirmed)
      FD: Altus 3 speed
      RD: Acera 9 speed
      Shifters: Altus
      Crank: 3 ring Shimano branded
Cassette: 9 speed non stainless steel but upgradable
      Wheelset: something chinese
Tyres: deli trax (never heard of them)
      Hubs: no brand name noted
Forks: Allegedly (from aldi site) suntour XCM 100mm travel but unbranded
Saddle: really nice low profile gel saddle, unbranded
Frame: Apparently its a Hydroformed 6061 Alutech Aluminium 2015 polygon premier 3 frame (polygon frames have lifetime warranty)

      Other things to note:

Sticker on the bike says distributor is bicyclesonline.com.au. so I'm wondering if you can take warranty claims straight to them.

Bike is not crane branded and only writting on the frame is 27.5.

Rides well, brakes good for mechanical disc, shifts are crisp for Acera/Altus group set, no brake or gear adjustment was required out of the box which is quite nice conaidering all the supermarket bikes ive had to build for people in the past required some sort of fine turning which I think isnt great for the average supermarket bike consumer who know very little about bikes.

Downsides: Found front shocks to be a bit soft. and bike is pretty heavy probably 14KGs

      Similar bike https://www.bicyclesonline.com.au/polygon-premier-3.0-27…
Its most likely a 2015 polygon premier 3 with upgraded RD and forks, if you watch the video you can tell the frame is identical.

Conculsion: for $350 you get a $425 bike with upgraded rear deraileur and forks which will get you into MTB and this bike is fully upgradable.

I'll definetly be keeping it to see how a 27.5 handles on the trails.

Hope this helped, but then again if youre reading this and still havent got your hands on one, its most likely theyre be sold out.

      • could you weight the bike, please, I just want to know the exact weight. Initially I was hoping that it would be around 13 kg.

will it be possible to swap to road tires? I was thinking turning it into a hybrid bike… What tires would recommend?

do you think for a little more this would be a better choice:

I've always wondered what the big deal was with shredders…how can you not just do it by hand - I find it kinda therapeutic actually, it's a stress relief!

Seriously, you spend heaps of time tearing pieces of paper into very narrow strips?! Can't you find anything more interesting to do, like watch some paint dry? And if you can tear at least 10 pages at a time, you must be Edward Scissorhands.

From experience, this type of auto feed paper shredders are s***.

    1) The paper tray takes like 100 pieces only.
    2) It feeds & shreds one piece at a time, which means it takes longer to shred 100 pieces as compared to shredding 10 pieces at once by hand using the manual shredder.
    3) Most shredders can run up to maybe 5 to 8 minutes before it overheats & auto shut down. Because of point No. 2, by the time it gets to page 20, the shredder would overheat & stops completely until it cools down (over a period of few hours) to a "suitable" state before it continues.

It is just not efficent & you'll be wondering why it is taking forever to shred your papers. Also you'll be shocked by the loud noise when the box resumes shredding suddenly after taking a few hours of "time-off" throughout the day/night!

Bought one from Officeworks a few years ago & returned back just after one day because it didn't shred many paper & the stupid thing kept taking "time-off" after a short period of "work"!
