Credit to Lizzle for this deal

After several months of waiting for a sale, I bought this chair for $247 last week from OW who happily pricematched the Officemax deal.

The good thing about today's deal is that you don't need to call officeworks to pricematch the deal, as some ppl have been unsuccessful.

Don't forget 2.5% cashrewards cashback. Original CLICK15 15% off deal

Thx OP, almost bought during the past week from Officemax who now list it for 260. Glad I'm lazy.

  • What's so good about this chair? What's the reviews like

    • +4

Always comes up as a good, if non best, cost effective chair in all chair fanboi arguments (Aeron / Buro / Ergohuman / Steelcase / cheap garbage)

Follow the links above / https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210885#comment-3042081

      • When I first saw this chair, I thought to myself who would spend 300+ on a chair!
Now you can have it for less than $250!
The 4 chairs I bought previously from OW (around $100 each) only lasted a couple of years then it starts to break and become uncomfortable.
There is also a whirlpool discussion page.

        My own review:
Money well spent. It's very comfortable and my back would thank me later :)

        • I bought a $100 chair from Officeworks and the cushion where my butt sits has been flattened to the point where I can feel the hard surface. Would this chair last more than 5 years?

        • @tendollar:

Well it has a 10 year warranty, so I would say yes. The gas lift also has a lifetime warranty.

        • @tendollar:
I'll let you know in 5 years time :)
The cushion is thick and I think it will definitely last more than 5 years esp with my modest arse (75kg).
The spine is very sturdy as well.
One small complaint is that I get itchy if I sit on the chair shirtless, because of the back mesh (First world problems).

      • Yeah that's cool and all but is it as great as the RaCErR chairs?

    • We have 10 of these chairs in the board room for 2 years now. They are awesome chairs, very comfortable. And no quality issues so far.

Thanks OP, I thought I was leaving this deal empty handed

Alright I give in. I bought one!
Ebay says I can expect to pick it up on October 2nd.

  • I'm sitting on this chair right now. It's nice! Definitely feels strong… Thick metal base etc

    • How tall are you? I'm 6ft4, and I've used desk chairs that don't drop the seat low enough fo me to keep a straight back. Would this be ok? I would, of course, try in store first as well though!

  • This is a good deal for a good chair, bought 2 of these from Staples on sale about a month ago for $257 each but required the purchase of 2 or more to have them for that price.

The chair has been great so far, very comfortable has a thick cushioned support and feels very sturdy, the ability to adjust and lock the back is great, would recommend.

  • Thanks OP, need a new office chair, can claim Gst back too.

    • HOw??

      • prob has abn for business use

Does anybody know if there is a headrest available for this chair or if there any compatible headrests?

  • Got this price matched at OW on the last deal, have had it for a few weeks and am pretty happy with it

  • ive bought one, its got good padding but im not 100% hot on the way the levers work. They are really tight and also the chair doesnt really tilt back very much to stretch the back time to time. Other than that its quite good. Its a very wide chair too, suitable for a fat ass (mines skinny)

      Fat assess rejoice!

  • I thought this chair for AFRDI approved?

  • For people who have this chair, does the plastic edge around the backrest annoy you at all? It's the only aspect that is giving me pause.

Looks like they fixed in the second version, but doesn't seem to be worth an extra $300… http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/kab-buro-me…

    • +1

Not at all. My body does not touch the plastic edge. The only 'annoying' thing with this chair, is that it the chair does not go down low enough. But, overall, it is a great chair.

      • The only 'annoying' thing with this chair, is that it the chair does not go down low enough.

Agree with you. Short arses represent!

Just compared it to old chair and the bottom of both seats are at the same level. It's just that the plush cushion on the new one is making it higher. LOL.

Aside from that it's really comfortable and solid - built to last. Recommended.

  • Any idea how big the box for this is? Would it fit in the boot of a small to medium size sedan?

I am wondering whether to click & collect or get it delivered (but won't be home most of the time).

    • +1

It's very heavy, I would not recommend collecting it yourself unless you are parked very close by. The box is a little big, maybe 1.5m width and length, 1m high.

      • How many kilograms are we talking about?

        • It doesn't say on box but i weighed it just then and it's about 16-17kg. I lifted it fine by myself but if you need help just ask the officeworks people to help you.

        • @slosh:
17kg is fine. Just hope my arms are long enough

  • +1

Just purchased mine from Officeworks today for $247 (Price beat Officemax $260). Box fits into back seat of sedan car/ any car easily. Great chair overall, build is exceptional. Can't fault it to be honest

Does anyone know where I can sit on these chairs to see how comfy they are?

    • +1

      at Officeworks

  • +1

Thanks ordered but after paid for it at pay-pal it kicked me back into eBay saying that the seller had changed the price. But was still the 249.90 after discount.
Waited 5 min no eBay or pay-pal emails so went and purchased again this time fine hopefully I don't get charged 2x

    • You'll be fine. Even if you're charged twice, then Officeworks is pretty good to deal with.

This chair is a lot better cheaper, better and popular than the $1000 rip off Herman Miller Aeron Chair, buy it you won't regret it.

  • +1

Bought this chair in previous staples deal - it's really comfortable and feels premium. Recommend

  • Highly recommended, great chair, fantastic price/performance ratio, best upgrade ever!

  • Out of stock :(

    • Indeed. Moar stock please OW!

Is this the same chair? My local Officeworks have them in stock, is it worthwhile going in today to ask them to price match?

    • To price match what? A 15% discount provided by Ebay on Officeworks' own Ebay store? Good luck…

      • +1

Price match office max which is selling it for $260

        • That's what i did and they were happy to price beat it, came to $247

        • @slosh: The store manager has just refused to price beat at Box Hill, VIC Officeworks. He says its because Office max isn't a brick and mortar store.

        • Strange…. They are supposed to price beat, it says in their policy. It meets all criteria in their price beat policy. Seems some managers just want people to pay full price

        • @slosh: Apparently it's an instruction that came from head office.

        • @bluechan:
          http://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/lowest-pr…
          What about online stores?
Identical products are price matched against online stores but as with any other kind of store, the item must be currently in stock. When price matching online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery. If the identical product can be purchased and delivered via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.

Go to a different store. If you go back to the same store, show the manager the link. Tell him/her to pricematch or you'll make a complaint. (wouldn't hurt to tell him/her how you wasted time for a second trip. Might get it even cheaper!)

        • What a load of crap.. Officemax has physical stores, thus it's a brick and mortar store. Even if it didn't have a physical store they're supposed to price beat online stores as well. Officeworks Capalaba price beat mine but it was 5 minutes before closing time lol

        • Exactly ^^^ Don't give up mate, show them the link and have them read it. Don't give in to them pressuring you, most of what they say is bs. "instruction from head office" ugh yeah sure mate

        • +2

@slosh: Don't worry I'm an OzBargainer. I've just made an order over the phone and the girl didn't give me any trouble. Now I'm going to have to head back there to pick it up. I might have to give the store manager a piece of my mind. For him to pass on to his Head Office. And like others who price matched it was $247

        • +2

@bluechan: So I picked up the chair and had a word with the store manager. He apologised and admitted he made a mistake but was following the memo from head office which he showed me. The memo was dated 22 Sep 2015 and had a different price on it. So if anyone else is going to go instore to get this chair. If the manager refuses to price beat. Insist that they look up the OfficeMax site and confirm the price. The only hitch is. For those of us in VIC where there is no OfficeMax store to physically go to we would have to pay for the delivery fee. But my policy is if they don't ask. I don't tell.

          PS. Happy with the chair.

  • I bought a Task Chair from Costco last week for $99.99
Not sure if it's exactly the same as this though? But looks similar.

    • +1

Of course it isn't. This chair retails for well above $300.

  • So what's the cheapest way to get this chair now? I can fell the screws in my current one :D

  • There's some new stock! Go go go

    • Out of stock again

I always struggle when buying a new chair, so I thought I'd leave some feedback to help anyone else considering this.

I bought this on the weekend through this offer, got it this morning first thing, and just assembled it a couple of hours ago.

Word of warning, the instructions are shit and a bit confusing but it's really not that hard once you figure it out.

Chair is very comfortable for a fat ass like me, and feels like an absolute tank, I don't think I could break this chair even if I started jumping on it. It's pretty adjustable too, seat is not as big as I'd like it to be, but it's very comfy. I can see this lasting the full 10 years they advertise their warranty for.

All in all, don't hesitate. This chair is built like a tank, the base is solid metal that won't bend a mm, the cushion is very comfy compared to my older cheaper chair (cya later numb bumb!) and for $250 I reckon you'd easily get 5-10 years out of this chair, everything about the build quality fills with me confidence that it's designed to last. It's heavy, but not ridiculously so, a 10 year old probably has no chance carrying it.

Another thing, this chair rolls around with zero effort, like it's gliding which I also put down to the great build quality. Back support also seems very good but I really have no back problems.

Even at $300, I'd buy this chair, it's seriously great. It's miles better than the junk $100 chairs at office works.

FWIW, I also own an IKEA Markus at work (a $400 chair) and TBH, I think I prefer this one. The Ikea chair is a tiny bit more comfortable (bigger seat) but this one rolls around effortlessly, the arm rests are removable and the build quality is far better too. If I was buying another chair, I'd go with this one again.
