    Thanks OP.

Great chair! Thinking of buying one for work.

Got one two weeks ago, price match with Officeworks was delivered the next day!

    • Sitting on one right now. Really ergonomic. Did you price match against staples?

      • +1

        Sure did :)

    • Doh, I just bought one from Officeworks for $299 two days ago! Haven't even made a "dent" in it yet.
Contemplating about getting another for work.

      • See if OW will retro actively price match, especially if you are buying a second.

        • +6

Or if you kept the receipt for the first chair, buy another one and return the 2nd unopened unit using the first receipt?

ALSO: check to see whether your credit card (if you used one) has price protection.

        • @zzyss: the ol swaparooni always works a treat ;)

        • @zzyss: price protection usually gets activated only if the difference is <$75.

    • +6

FWIW, I just dicked around with Officeworks for an hour asking if they'll price match and they said no. Their price match doesn't cover coupons apparently.

      • +1

I only tried this once and it didn't work, but try saying "it's not a COUPON OFFER, its a VOUCHER CODE" in a really smartass voice. I think someone might give up and just give it to you.

      • +1

Ring them back, mine took 15 minutes on the phone as I had a nice old lady trying to navigate the Staples website to verify the deal.

Depends how much your time is worth to haggle again.

  • $260 is a great price on this chair. I've been doing some research (ok, only on Whirlpool) and people seem to agree its a great mid-priced office chair.

    • +3

There really isn't a better chair at this price point unless you are willing to get a used mira/aeron or humanscale.

      • That's right, it's popular for a reason.
When this chair wears out I'll get another or if I win the lotto I'll get a $1000 one.

        • +1

I have a $1000 chair (Herman Miller Aeron), its a good chair but at this ozbargain price point I'd get that instead to save some $$$ as I mainly wanted a good mesh chair with adjustable arms that was going to last

      • +2

I have had this chair for over 12 months
        and
loiter around 100kg, depending on beer supplies and swmbo proximity

It is a good chair. More comfy then the Haworth $1K I have at the office.

In winter, the oepn back is a little cool, but in summer a winner

  • +1

The 10 year warranty is something else to consider. Sadly, it seems the newer chairs are made in Taiwan as opposed to Australia.

    • Pity about not being made in Australia, but made in Taiwan is actually good.

      • +1

Definitely. Tried a whole variety of cheap chairs from the ergonomic ofw range, the replicas from Milan, Vorso ergonomic, ergohuman (replica) and some others but a new buro is probably better for you as long as you adjust it properly.

      • Have you verified if it was made by Taiwanese in Tainwan, not Chinese in Taiwan, that makes huge difference…lol

  • +1

does the back have an option to move lean, so you can almost lie down on it? or at least slouch back?

    • Yes it does. The back is mesh, so may sag after a while of putting so much pressure on it perhaps?, just my opinion with no facts to back this up.

It's a good chair, just get one. :)

      • +3

I recently bought a mesh chair from Costco, which is alright and when that mesh starts to sag, I'll simply swap it over for free. Costco membership is good for somethings.

We have these at the office - definitely NOT a fan :/

    • +7

Could you please elaborate? Might be useful for potential buyers.

      • +1

I just find them fairly uncomfortable. I really don't like the tilt design - yes you can lock it in place bit it's quite fiddly, and without it locked the chair just tilts almost backwards unless you're actively bracing. The arms also quite annoying - i end up taking them off as they don't lower enough to go under many of our desks.

    • How come?

  • +2

Does anyone know if there is any way to split payments at Staples Online??

  • +1

    Two questions :
    1. Can the arms be removed ?
    2. How the heck do i put in the coupon code ?

    Thanks

    • +3
      1. I believe the arms don't need to be installed.
      2. You need to create an account to have the option to input a coupon code.
      • +1

        Thank you very much :)

      • Yeah thanks. Was about to give up because couldn't find where to put coupon

  • This is awesome! I have been waiting around for an offer like this since missing out on the Australia Post deal on this chair!

    • I hope you're bought your chair this time. :)

      Get to it!

  • probably a subjective question but - does anyone know how his chair compares against the mesh one from CostCo?
main difference that I can see is that the CostCo one also has a mesh seat and not just the backrest.

Serious question. We have office chair races down the hall every friday. Its a timed event so not a race per se but Ive been on the hunt for a sturdier chair. I've broken about three of the cheaper swivel chairs at the wheel base but kind of worth it as first prize is $150 and a carton. What sort of quailty are the wheels on this and is it possible to lock the tilt into a racing position? Thankyou

    • +2

I dare you to contact the manufacturer with this question:
      http://buroseating.com/contact/

    • +4

I want to work where you are.

      I'll bring my own chair.

      • +16

We plan the races around the HR meeting (they were absolutely against it due to safety reasons so we have to avoid them) and we catch the elevator one level up to the vacant level above us. We're supposed to be spending $200 a week on a team lunch but being in insurance we have enough paid lunches with clients throughout the week. The intern has to stand near the elevator as a lookout but will also help with time keeping and delaying any unwelcome guests. Its very fast and furious-esque minus the cool guys and babes in leather jackets and replaced with balding middle age men, abandoned photocopiers and office chairs sprayed with wd40.

        • +4

          You paint a pretty picture.

    • The wheels are pretty strong. Each time I sit down I hear the noise of well made chair, it's AWESOME!

    • +3

Post pics of your race and I'll give you $5 PayPal towards your shiny new chair. :)

    • Lol got any jobs available at the moment?

  • +1

Thanks op, used it along with my Amex offer. Hopefully it will be a good purchase and good replacement of my 5 year old ikea $100 office chair…

  • Does this chair have an adjustable back height? my torso is longer than average so where normal chairs have their lumber support its actually digging into my hip bones instead (back height needs to be adjusted up).

  • Where do you put in the coupon code? On the phone with OW now and they're saying there is no where to put in the coupon code.

  • +5

Certainly looks comfortable. Tempted. My current crap chair gas is gone
    Is the arm height adjustable?
    edit: bought. Yolo

    • Well done! You won't regret it.

    • +1 for yolo lol

  • +2

"Suitable for up to 8 hours usage". I'm new to this. Turns out chairs can be rated according to hours of comfortable usage (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chair). Useful excuse to avoid working overtime. Frankly, for sedentary tasks I'd prefer interspersed sessions of lying down and walking over sitting and standing.

Tried to price match with office works, hung up and recalled with 4 different reperesentatives before tiring out. Here's my experience:

Reasons why they wouldn't give me the price beat:

    • Must have an account to put in the coupon code, whereas officeworks accepts guest checkout, so its not identical service.
    • Dot point 3, no coupon offers (x2 representatives said this, indian female and white male)
    • No justifiable reason, saying "20% off is another store's service," officeworks doesn't have 20% off therefore I can't match. Was pissed so I ask to speak with the manager, didn't get the price beat in the end as the manager pointed out coupon offers (I tried to be a smartass and say its not a coupon, its a voucher) but she saw through it.

Might give it another go later. I'm too scared I'll run into the same person, the white females all have similar voices.

been waiting for a deal on this chair,

    thanks OP

  • +1

Bought an older model of this chair on gumtree the other day, for $35. Definitely worth the coin!

  • Wow, both options have the chair at $290 because I live in the sticks :(

  • Did anyone who ordered through OfficeMAX get an order confirmation? I thought mine went through successfully but I didn't get emailed anything and the order isn't showing up in my account.

    • Enquire quickly because it is showing that they are out of stock now.

    • I ordered at 3-ish and had no confirmation email for an hour. I just gave them a call and they confirmed the order went through (gave me an order number), just the confirmation email didn't get sent for some reason. They're checking up on why.

Suggest you give them a call so you can at least check and get your order number. It's Friday afternoon so better to know now than wait till Monday.

  • Does anyone know of a store on the Gold Coast where you can try the chair? Reallu reluctant on buying without doing so.

    • Officeworks. But the sale ends soon so you better go now!

  • I pulled the plug on this although was waiting for it to be the price it was last time @Australia Post for $252 but eh $259 isn't that much more

  • Ermmm… what is the magical Amex offer that is mentioned but not really elaborated on?

    • +1

if you have an amex card you get bonus offers sent through amexconnect.com.au where you can click to activate and redeem the offer to your card

      • Thanks mate, just found it, I was trying to get into the other Amex site…. cheers
