Recommendations for a Travel SIM to USA

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a good (& cheap) travel sim to the US? I don't need data, just umlimited calls within the US and back to Australia. I've never needed a travel sim before, therefore, I'm not sure of the best way to go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

  • Option 1: http://auspost.travelsim.net.au/ (claims to have free incoming while roaming. terrible reviews for this product, however - your mileage may vary)

Option 2: Buy a local sim once you land in the USA and use a skype-in number (to forward your calls from Aus to your skype account) to get calls while in the USA.

I don't think there's an option for unlimited calls to Australian mobile from the USA (unless you get vonage or something like that)

  • Travel Sims Direct (http://travelsimsdirect.com) were great for my USA trip in August - The SIMPLE Mobile SIM I got from them (on T-Mobile USA network) worked great in LA and Las Vegas.

Unfortunately they currently seem to be out of stock and not in business :(

Currently looking for a similar good data SIM deal for my girlfriend who's going this month.

  • We went into Fry's in San Diego (Think Dick Smith meets Bunnings)
and picked up a pay as you go sim which you paid $40 up front and it cost $2 for unlimited talk and text on any day you used it and nothing on days you didn't
When we went to Hawaii we went to a T-Mobile dealer kiosk thing and got month's Unlimited Talk and Text and 1.5gb 4G Data for $59.95 - local buys worked out much better value than these travel sim things

TravelSIMSDirect's last special before they sold out was a T-Mobile USA SIM with 5GB of 4G data for $39 AUD on 28th August 2015. Come back TravelSIMSDirect!
