Hi all!
First time posting so let me know if I need to change anything.

Just got an email from Betta Home Living advertising 15% off all TCL Tv's and noticed this great deal on a 55" TCL Smart Tv.

The tv is currently on sale at $987 but with 15% off, it takes the price down to $838.95. Until the end of September you can also claim a $100 eftpos voucher which essentially takes the price down to $738.95. If you live within a 20km radius of a Betta Home Living store you also get free delivery.

Don't forget to go through cash rewards (3.2%) to get an extra $23.65 off bringing the price down to $715.30.

The TV retails for $1099 and the next best price is at Appliances Online for $950.

They advertise it at 200HZ but in the description say it is 100HZ so not sure which is true.

Hope it helps someone who wants a decent 55" TV none the less :)

Well done OP this is a great deal I got the same TV ($769) but non smart capabilities from Betta probably about 4 months ago. If anyone is considering a 50-55" around this price I would say go for it, it doesn't compare to a Samsung or LG but for the price is great. I looked at quite a few middle to low range brands and found that the TCL had the best picture. Negatives would be average remote and average sound but you can just get a sound bar if you aren't happy.

      Sorry, just edited the title.

  • Does anyone know how good/bad this TV is? Also, is the 3D active/passive?

Very good quality comparable with Samsung, you also get a gift card which can be used for a bluray player, and everyone's happy :)

    • Comparable with which Samsung?

It's 100Hz CMI (Clear Motion Index), so the real refresh rate may be half that ie 50Hz. I'd suggest going into a store and having a look first before buying. Having said all that, I have a new TCL (a http://www.tclelectronics.com.au/product.asp?pid=177&cid=49) and it's really good. I'd agree that's it's not up there with the higher end Samsung and LG sets, but it is as good as or better than some of the entry level sets from those manufacturers at close to half the price.

  • TCL vs Sonic??

    • Sonic is faster.
