    Full time teacher
    full time student
    those under 31.
Pretty restrictive and pointless for a lot of us?

  • Are you eligible if you are student over 31 ?

  • Yes absolutely, there are no age restrictions on the student cards.
You just need to be a full time student and you can apply.

  • What happen if you are both part-time student and part-time teacher ?

    • +2

      Nah, will cost you double.

  • I got mine for free just by asking last time I booked my flights through STA travel.

  • Hi coprocessor8087, you need to be studying or teaching full time. When you apply you'll need to upload proof of study/teaching. If you want to email us what you have to [email protected] we're happy to check it for you, but for a student card you need to be a full time student, and for a teacher card you need to be teaching full time.

useless card, never got any discount from it.

    • It's pretty useful in most parts of the Europe.

    • Must be of use in certain circumstances but not in my experience. Wouldn't recommend.

      • When we had it (10 years ago) we found it useful in Europe for getting student prices at museums, galleries etc. We found they wouldn't give you the discount unless you had this card, a regular student card from an Australian uni wasn't accepted. No idea if that's still the case, but that was our experience. Saved us a fortune in that respect.

Absolutely horrible card. Don't get it. The discounts are useless

  • Hi all,
For those interested, with an ISIC you can get many discounts while travelling, Europe & the US in particular have great deals!

There's also heaps here in Australia
    e.g.
    - up to 40% off flights & travel with STA Travel
    - 20% off at many restaurants with our Frequent Values program
    - 20% off takeaway online orders with Delivery hero
    - 20% off online shopping with boohoo.com
    - buy one get one free at many attractions in Australia e.g. Eureka Skydeck 88, Sea life (Sydney & Melbourne)
    - discounted tickets for Australia Zoo (15% off) and at top theme parks on the gold coast (e.g. 15% off Dreamworld)
    - Hoyts e-tickets from 14.50
    - 5% off groceries, fuel, liquor and more with Woolworths WISH gift cards
    - 5% off iTunes gift cards
    - 5% off David Jones gift cards
    - 5% off STA Travel Insurance

    Plus many more!

    • Are these benefits shared with the Youth card as well?

      • hi anthonettex,

Yes, the above discounts are all applicable to IYTC cards.
The STA flight may be slightly less, depending on airline discounts (as they have specific youth and student flights) but the others are all valid for the IYTC youth card!

        Hope this helps

    • Can you give me a demonstration as to how I would receive a 40% discount on flights and accommodation using this card?

      • To access student and youth fares with STA Travel you need an ISIC or IYTC card. This allows you to get the specially negotiated discounted fares. Airlines only allow these fares to be sold to cardholders.

        • I would like to know any specific trip in which I would save 40% using an ISIC card.

For example a regular flight and transfer package to los Angeles costs $5000 but with an ISIC card is $3000.

Can you please provide any demonstration of a 40% discount on "flights and travel".

        • Flight discounts are provided by STA Travel, as this is a separate company, I am not able to advise on specific discounts and flights change constantly. As said previously, with an ISIC (or IYTC or ITIC) you gain access to the best student, youth and teacher fares STA has to offer and for these flights you are required to present your card for verification.

        • @louisab:

I am very dubious that you would get 40% off a flight.

It would've been a fantastic promotion for the card to see a demonstration of how this could be done. However you have, as I expected, shirked the issue.
