Are eBay "genuine" Samsung S5 batteries really genuine?

I'm referring to those that are supposed to be real Samsung batteries, for $12 to $13. Anyone with experience?

Not specifically, but the Samsung-branded batteries, at the price you mention, definitely won't be genuine.

Buy Anker brand batteries. These are 3rd party batteries which sell very well on Amazon. and is well known on XDA forums.

  • Thanks guys, I think I'll stick to power banks for now. AUD is not very Amazon friendly at the moment.

  • Well, they're genuinely batteries. Mostly.

Some are… a lot aren't. Usually NFC won't work on the non-genuine battery. In which case, you can get paypal to refund you, and you normally get to keep the battery. Saying that, the last couple of batteries I bought for my S4 looked exactly like the original and had working NFC and held a decent charge. If I had to bet, I'd say they were genuine (cost me $15 each). Buyer beware though.

I bought a s3 battery. went for an elcheapo on ebay. At first I thought I'd blown my money as the battery life was shocking. However after 5 or so cycles it was lasting around 48 hours or so. That's with minimal usage and wasnt tested mych after that as it was sold.

They aren't, when those shops say genuine they mean the batteries are genuinely for Samsung phones, not made by Samsung.
If you want genuine Samsung batteries, you'll have to put the price up to ~$30, but even then you'd still have a high chance of getting A+ grade direct clone fake batteries from China that can explode, if you're unlucky that is.

  • My favorite was a genuine imitation leather case for my galaxy from Hong Kong

Speaking from personal experience, I bought genuine samsung s5 battery on ebay. They state made in china. My original states made in korea assembled in vietnam. My original battery works much better than the ebay purchased battery. The made in China battery drains very fast, its only good as a spare backup but wont hold its charge well. Personally i wouldnt buy it again knowing powerbanks work better
