  • Looks like teds have it on eBay as well, so cash rewards apply there. :-)

  • +2

Just bought the 27mm. I only paid around 200, which I thought was great… Good little lens.

    • that's a good price !

      • $150 is better though.. :(

  • +4

Add "trade50" at Teds for additional $50 off XF 27mm lens

    • For some reason, TED only allow this code for certain product. In the case of Fuji Lens, only the XC 50-230, 18mm, 27mm and 35mm. All old lens.

    • Don't you have to trade in an old camera to get that discount?

      • +1

No. Buy online, apply discount code and pick up in store or have it delivered (delivery fee applies). They have run this type of promo before. No old camera required.

  • +1

the fujifilm australia site is down . ?

    • It's back up now.

  • Now to find me a 23mm for $700 odd!

    • +1

Wait for digidirect 10% off sale. They should hopefully have another one before the cash back finishes. With the 10% off and cash back the 23mm will be $724.

  • +1

Bought. Awesome deal. 349 - 50 (trade50) - 200 cash back = $99. Over 70% off original price. Better jump on it quick!

  • Transaction Declined (05): Do Not Honour

    …:(

  • Grabbed the 27mm. 109 after the cashback delivered.

I actually left my xt1 23mm and 56mm in a taxi in bali 3 weeks ago. Going through insurance now and hope it will get covered.

How long is the ted trade50 deal going to last? Ill be picking up an xt1 again.

    • Code ends 4th Oct according to the back page of their catalogue

      http://www.teds.com.au/media/catalogue/pageflip.html

      • Thanks mate.
Looking at other retailers. It works out cheaper for the xt1 from canerapro for example even after using the trade50 code.

        • Defiantly try other retailers, I bought mine for 927 few months ago, when fuji had 200 cashback going on.

  • I know how much the 27mm 2.8 feel like a bargain to you all but… doesn't any of you have the 16-55 kit? and if so, Why you need this?

    • +1

The kit is 18-55, and it's not 2.8 at 27mm. This is also tiny and makes an xe1/2 almost pocketable. If you're talking the 16-55 2.8, well that's a great lens but it's huge.

    • I didn't know Fuji made a pancake 16-55 zoom.

    • The 27mm is a prime lens and is much shaper than the zoom.

    • -3

The 16-55 at 27mm is F3.2, hardly make any difference. 27mm is smaller but only camera that become truly pocketable with it is X-M1. As for sharpness, I doubt its noticeable with bear eyes.

It is sure a bargain, but I just don't see it appearing to someone who already have the 16-55.

      • +2

It's almost 1/4th the size of the 16-50 (there is no 16-55 variable zoom). Just because you don't have the need for a smaller lens or prefer zooms, does not mean it's useless. Look beyond just the specs list. Having a tiny pancake lens will change how people perceive your camera and can be less intimidating than if you had a big extending zoom pointed at them. Also zooming with your feet can teach you a lot about composition. Oh, and it's also $100.

      • +2

I'm not sure that you get the concept of interchangeable lenses, you might be better off with a point and shoot.

Prime lenses make all the difference, and it is noticeable. Perhaps not with bear eyes, but with humans eyes it is.

        • -1

Seems we have a league of prime fans here….

"I'm not sure that you get the concept of interchangeable lenses, you might be better off with a point and shoot."

I know what interchangeable is, I have four camera across three system.

"Prime lenses make all the difference, and it is noticeable. Perhaps not with bear eyes, but with humans eyes it is."

Fine you spotted a typo, I dare you to post a scientific prove that there is noticeable difference between the two.

I am not going to get drag in to a prime vs Zoom argument. these always go no where.

        • @syswong: If you have for cameras, why are you asking such a novice question?

        • -1

          @Aids:

So shooting with zoom is novice….or questioning the existence value of a lens is novice? LOL

BTW still waiting to see that noticeable difference with my bear eyes :P

        • +1

@syswong: yes, not being able to see the value in a $100 pancake lens for a mirrorless camera, one can only assume you are a novice.

        • -2

          @Aids:

If my exiting lens can do 80% of a new lens, then it doesn't matter what price it is at, it is no value.

It is a different story if you are missing a lens in that particular FL or aperture. That's why I did say it is a bargain for some people.

        • @syswong: Your zoom can not match the size and portability of a prime lens like the 27/2.8. Also having to stick with either zooms or primes is a false dichotomy. You can own both. I'm not sure that you really understand the concept of interchangeable lenses.

        • -3

@Orpheus: What I cannot agree on is the price of prime that Fuji(and Sony) is asking. and both my X-T1 and X-E1 come in a kit, I added 55-200 and a Samyang 12 2.0 cover most of my need. size and portability is not a priority for me so this lens is not that attractive to me, and that just me.

My newly acquired D5500 is all prime, I use the kit only at 18 3.5 plus the 35 and 50 1.8. That kind of price I can agree with.

        • @syswong: You said it's not attractive to you, but you do know that not everybody in the world is you? The benefits of this pancake lens is size and portability, understand?

Also, how is $100 too expensive, yet the Nikon 35mm and 50mm are not even though they cost more?

        • -2

          @Orpheus:

Gees you really need to learn to read what I wrote man….

As for the Nikons, both are 1.8 lens with the 50mm a FF lens, each cost me $200 when I got it with the Ebay 20% sale. I don't recall a Fuji or Sony 1.8 lens at that price.

        • +1

@syswong: You said you don't understand why people would want this lens. The answer is: compact size, portability, prime.

This Fuji 27/2.8 is $99.95. Hence the deal. You do know that's half of $200, right?

        • @syswong: I really am not sure why you started this thread. Even more, why you are being so stubborn to continue it. It was a stupid question that you have shown you know the answer to. Worst troll ever because you don't even mean it smh.

  • I get a 404 when I view the 27mm product page :(

    • I bet they are going to change the price back to 19X.XX or remove the promote code for this lens.

    • it's back up now. well, worked for me. snagged it with the code above too!

    • It wasn't working for me either before…it's back up now! $99 with cashback…bargain! :)

  • Use cashrewards also for teds

  • Great deal. Thanks! A new lens for my X-T1

  • +2

Ah, Ozbargain… You done it again! Bought this lens and I don't have a Fuji body. Guess I gotta start looking for a cheap body now!

    • +2

This. I'm in the exact same boat. Now to find a bargain on a body :/

      • Me too. Then XT10 or probably XE2 soon :-)

        • Just received my lens. It is more compact than I thought. Might have to get either the X-A1 or X-M1 to take advantage of the compactness. Anyone know of a good deal?

    • Love your work and spirit. i have spent more than 1000 on ebay and now this lens but i have X-T1.

  • Heads up guys.. Lens doesn't look to be showing up anymore on Ted's website anymore. Could be out of stock.

  • Now 27mm is gone from teds

  • I just got a call in regards to the 27mm, was meant to pick it up from the Brisbane store however they are out of stock. They are shipping instead now, free postage.

    • It's out of stock.

      • They identified another store that had stock in Victoria, so they are getting it shipped from there.

  • I new it is going to be ozbargained so i did not wait their call and went to the shop after order and requested them to process my order, after some trouble they processed my order and told me that there have been lot of orders and now they have to back order some, i am in melbourne

    • I wanted to pickup but worried the coupon wouldnt work with pickup.
OTherwise would have picked up from sydney

      • I ordered online and then went in shop for pickup. she was very reluctant to give it to me but eventually i end up getting it.

        • Why wouldn't she give it to you? You've already paid for it. She has no choice.

        • @Orpheus: she said teds had lot of orders and my one is not still processed if i want in store she will not honer the 50 code i can cancel my online order and pay in-store if i want to pick up right then, well end is well rest is well.

Does these lenses fit Nikon or canon DSLRs?

    • -3

Yes. They can fit any DSLR or mirrorless body.

  • -1

New lens coming that's why. New 35mm f2 WR coming at the end of October!

    • Will it be as small as this one?

      • No not as small, around the 18mm size i think and will be weather sealed according to the rumours

        • Ok, interesting. Wonder how much it will be…

        • @snapper:

Apparently will be less than the 35mm 1.4

  • +1

Got them to give me the $50 off instore without a trade in because it had been removed online - Comes to $99 after cashback, hard to argue.

  • Just got a shipping notification. Seems like it's gone through!

    • Same, got mine a few hours ago with tracking number.

  • Micheal is sale 27 for 349, after cashback it will be 149. Cheers

  • Any store where I could get it in Sydney?

  • Is there any camera case that would fit the X-E1/E2 with the 27mm snugly?

  • Got the lens today and out through the cashback. Nice and simple and for a hundred odd bucks can't go wrong.

  • any idea if this is limited to one cashback per customer or can I get cashback on multiple purchases? checked the t&c and doesn't seem to say anything but just want to confirm

    • On the claim page there an option to add another product so im guessing you can claim as many as you want. As long as you have a eligible product you should qualify.

      • 7. Claims are limited to one claim per Eligible Product purchase.

Does this mean only 1 claim per lens/body and not multiple?

  • Did you 27mm cashback get approved?

    • It got approved, but I haven't checked if I got the money yet.

  • -1

    has anyone been refunded yet?

    • I would like to know this too!

    • +1

Refunded? Do you mean received the Cashback?

  • +1
