  • nice work!

some of their stock ends up being way cheaper than bookdepository (well the ones I'm interested in buying anyway)

  • Also probably worth mentioning coupon is valid until Jan 31, 2010

  • They end up being about the same for the books i checked. I think you might save a bit more if you buy books that cost $20+. But this place charges $4 delivery PER BOOK and could take considerably longer for a tiny saving (if at all) - Decent find anyways!

  • Where do I enter the code? I can't see a section in the "cart" page to do it.

its on the side panel just underneath the shipping and total etc

    • Got it now, thanks!

Please be careful purchasing books from Better World. I opted to buy a three volume series of design books over Book Depository via booko.com.au.

They were about 10 dollars cheaper.

When the books arrived - they were secondhand, ex-Display copies from Borders - with the notched covers and the black texta mark acrosse the leaves near the spine.

Apparently I had bought the books from one of their "marketplace sellers" - which was their name for third parties selling secondhand books via Better World.

The good news is their excellent customer service and after some discussion I was able to ship the books back to them for a full refund.

  • As indicated in the code , the 12% discount is given to you after voting in the ' Readers choice Literacy Grant'

Earn the discount by voting for yourselves.

    +1 Great post !
I was about to buy a book from Better World Books as it was cheaper than bookdepository (found this out with booko.com.au), and this'll make it even cheaper.

On the second hand thing, you just need to be attentive when you're selecting the item. The interface is a bit confusing, as the earlier poster said the `marketplace' books are cheaper but second hand so you need to ensure you dont select an item from that section. It's not a problem and I think you'll definitely get a NEW book as long as you ensure you avoid making that mistake.

    • That's correct. You just need to be sure that the tab you're at is "New & Used" instead of "Used" or "Marketplace". Once at the "New & Used" tab, add the brand new one to your cart and you'd definitely get a new book.

  • Does the 12% discount apply to marketplace books too?

  • The 5 books I'm interested in have similar price at depository and BWB, only the depository is in AUD and BWB is in US (+excl. shipping). So compare first.

  • www.booko.com.au is a nice site to get prices from. It checks most of the local vendors, Book Depository etc etc.

  • I have used both BetterWorld and Book Depository several times in the last year or so. Book Depository is usually cheaper and their packaging, in my experience, is always better. At least three times of books from betterWorld arrived with packaging repaired by Austpost or barely protecting the books. I always mention this in the feedback to Better World, I hope they take notice.

Always check prices on Booko first.

    • Odd, because I've had a total opposite experience! I ordered 9 books from Book Depository at one time and they were each sent separately inside a small satchel (with not much padding). It was pretty annoying to receive them on different days over a period of one week. Each time, Mr Postman just anyhow stuffed the darn thing into my letterbox. Most of my 9 books were bent as a result. But I guess this is their cheapest shipping method, so I can't ask for much.

With Betterworld, I got all my books in one same shipment and they were placed and sealed into a box with very good padding and inside a bigger bag.

      • I don't mind the individual book thing as long as the postman can anyhow stuff the books into the postbox so I won't have to go to the post office to collect a parcel. XD

I swear, the post office lady recognises me. I didn't even have to provide ID on my last pickup. >.>

      • It does seems to be a bit variable. On a couple of occasions when I ordered more than one book from BetterWorld they came in separate packages.

I always get parcels delivered to my office to avoid things getting stuffed into my small mail box at home or making trips to the PO to collect packages.

  • a book directly from source $26, via betterworld same seller $30. after shipping and discount, betterworld was $1.50 cheaper.
