I don't watch TV so I have no clue, they don't need 4K but 50" seems about right.

The ALDI TV for $799 this Saturday would be reasonable…. Or could wait for a good deal to get a decent Full HD 50" for closer to $800 or so…
Gumtree - youll get one worth twice as much for half the price.
Then you can pocket the profits… maybe even by the GF something nice with soem of the misappropriated funds (off gumtree of course)
