    Maybe his scores are higher than some other critics on the same wines but it's not like there's some kind of absolute standard that everyone can agree on. In reality the 100 point scale is laughable, since you virtually have to bottle raw sewage to get less than about 75 points from almost anyone. Once you get into Halliday's 95/96 point range we're talking about good wines for this sort of money, by anyone's standards. He very rarely awards 97+ points so this is about as good as it gets without entering the rarefied air of the likes of Grange, or tiny brilliant winemakers who only make 50 dozen of their liquid unobtainiun.

      rated by JH might not be a good wine as different people have different pref. but it's definitely not a bad wine for majority of the people.
