    How much is one?

    • Varies i'm assuming

    • I'd assume you're looking around the $8 mark

    • $8.99 at my local.

      • I think that's the price with a coke. It was 7.50 at mine

Can you combine this with "FREE $5 Red Rooster Credit & Birthday Meal for Registering to New Loyalty Program" ?

Lol It reads like an infomercial….That's right! It's chicken and powdered gravy in bread.
It amazes me that they can get people in to pay stupid prices for such basic food.

    • +1

Yea i look at the picture and it looks very basic .. just chicken shreds and gravy/bbq sauce on bread. :(

      • +6

Agree. I think I'd much rather pay my local Viet deli $10 any day of the week and get 2x $5 crispy roast pork banh mi with all the fixings.

        • +1

Along with a bottle of Huda beer and it's as if one is in Hue

        • From R/Rooster i'd pick the $5 classic quarter with stuffing and chips. BYO carbs whether bread rolls or rice and I made two meals out of that.

Other days I go for the Japanese places and they're around $6-8

        • @payton: Those $5 boxes are only good for a convenient small snack. You must be adding a lot of rice to be able to get 2 full meals out of that. Might as well buy the cheaper chicken at the shops if youre going to go to the trouble of preparing your own meal.

        • -1

          @Orpheus:

People's diet varies. Calling it 'small snack' is incorrect IMO, if you look at what KFC calls a snack box. For $5 the R/rooster box is several leagues bigger and I had enough chicken portions for 2 meals without skimping.

        • @payton: The red rooster box isnt that much larger than a kfc snack box, hence why i called it a snack. If youre splitting this box by itself into 2 meals, 1 piece of chicken is not enough for the average person.

        • @Orpheus:
Don't know which R/R store you're buying from, but its like double of the KFC snackbox over here.
Its supposed to be a half of their "Classic Half" box

        • @payton: I'm kind of doing the same … I've been supporting my local chicken shop and getting their $8 whole roast chickens (trying to fight Woolies and Coles) and having that with rice at home … get 4 meals out of it (or two if I'm refuelling hard).

I can see someone who doesn't eat a lot getting 2 serves out of a qtr chicken meal, or 2 kids meals. No way could you get two serves out of a KFC snack box though (for an adult).

And yeah, 1/4 of a roast chicken should be heaps more than a single crispy strip… probably same calories :-D

Some people just want the basics. As a bodybuilder who is just looking for good protein and carbs, 2 of these is a good tasty and relatively cheap amount for what you are getting.

  • Red Rooster's gravy has no soul…. Hopefully it was just the Springvale store though..

    Fitting profile picture.

Brother bought one of these about 2 months ago and it looked like a sh** covered hotdog. He took it back and had to ask for one that looked remotely like the one on the menu.

    0/10 wouldn't buy.

    • agreed!

      • Yeah I've had probably 20 of these now and they're always a mess :( still good though!

    • -1

      HAHAHA

seriously though, who goes to Red Rooster, I can't stand their chicken so dry…

  • +1

Didnt know this was called ozwhinger. If you dont like dont buy

    • I didn't know this was ozhypocrite, next time you wonder why nobody told you about something you felt you should of known about… Think back to this day and this comment ….
      You're welcome :)

      • isn't this ozbargain???

wtf have you guys been smoking?

    • +4

Warning others that a product you bought wasn't very good is a valuable service. It's ozbargain, not ozwasteofmoney.

      • +3

I agree other members feedback can be quite useful.

    35% more chicken powder ?

    • +4

      It's real chicken…

      • -6

so does chicken powder, it's real. The more chicken you get, the more chicken powder inside. Wrong logic or they don't use chicken powder ? lol.

        • +2

Why are you referring to chicken powder? They're made from the chicken that's torn off the cooked chickens at the end of the day…

Might think you're cool making a joke about the chicken, but fact remains it's real chicken.

        • -4

@Spackbace: weird again, since when I'm cool beside joke ? I don't even know you, all I said is 35% more chicken mean more chicken powder, should I mention MSG ? Don't try to tell me that they don't use chicken powder in those cooked chicken.

        • @Spackbace:

Why are you referring to reel chicken?

        • @dlovep: I don't even….

  • Do they still microwave these?. Had one once at Brisbane Airport. It was just wrong.

    • YesSS! the last time i had one of these was also at Brissy airport (that airport just has terrible food options period) and it was so soggy and overall just wrong. I remember i use to like them as a kid, but very much off them now.

    • I had one in Darwin and it was a fresh baguette roll and was actually really good.

Not sure if all stores have this though.

  • Red Rooster's food is so bland. Looks like someone just bought roast chicken from Woolies and made it up themselves. I'm surprised they are still in business, all their stores are always empty.

    • my local one is always packed.. i like their food -____-

      • store owner?

  • would be interesting to know how much chicken is in it now. 35% more of what?

    • +2

35% more strips of chicken. Not that interesting is it now that you have thought about it?

  • +2

"Everyone loves our famous roast chicken"

Hey Red Rooster, please extract me from this sweeping generalization. Thanks, Bargainslut.

  • Only good food worth getting at Red Rooster is their sooooo yummy cheesy chicken nuggets!

    • Wait……

      Cheesy chicken nuggets?

      Why didn't I know about them before…….

  • +4

Looks like a crusty old tea towel that they've placed them on too, how appetising!

  • +1

Now with 35% real chicken ! That's right like OMG !

  • With such a strong consensus here against red rooster I wonder how they're still in business. I wouldn't take their food if it was free.

    • +2

You just can't beat a good old Rooster Roll. YUM!

      • Anything in the price range of a rooster roll beats a rooster roll. Subway. A whopper. A Coles roasted chicken from the deli. Anything!

        • +4

Lies! I just can't get enough of those Rooster Rolls, honestly. They could probably be made at home for a tenth of the cost but wow they taste good!

        • @ensanguined: I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Sorry if I sigh and shake my head as I walk past you queuing for rooster rolls.

      • you mean a "rooter roll"?

  • +2

Yeah nah. Make it a rippa sub and we are talking.
