Is This The Kind of Bargains You Guys Like?

Hi - I'm new and learning the ropes so please don't go too hard on me.

The TL;DR is that we have Settler Bears for >50% off here:

http://www.chapmanandwoodchemist.com.au/Settler-Bears-s/1865…

I just want to know if this is the kind of thing that you guys consider a bargain worthy of submitting to the deals section.

Background: My father has a pharmacy in country NSW. We sell gifts, but due to demographics of the area a lot of our customers are extremely price conscious and so we are limited in what we can get in and have to be very careful with our buying. We managed to get a deal on Settler Bears, and since I've been lurking here on and off for a while I thought it might be the kind of thing that you guys are interested in but wanted to check before posting on the main deals section.

Would appreciate your comments - like I said, we are constantly looking to buy nice things that we can sell at a good price to our local customers, this is just a sample of what we get. If it's something Ozbargainers would be interested in I can upload a few deals and see how we go.

Teddy bears? I would say no. Most members here are male and around 20-30ish. Eneloops, hard drives, microsd cards, phones are among the most popular items. Food is always good too.

However you still should post a deal and see how it goes.

      Based on …?

      • +2

There was a survey or poll a while ago posted in the forums.

So that's really "most of the members who happened to stumble across and respond to a survey posted a while ago were male and 20-30'ish". Everyone else may just have been out looking for bears.

A BearArse deal might be a hit.

It doesn't cost anything to post, they appear to be a decent price, and they look cute. We aren't all 20-30ish males; I'm a 50ish female. That said I'm in IT so I still conform to the standard goods indicated by ozhunter. I think you would also do well with skin care products, etc. I'm always on the lookout for decent prices on those sort of things. Best of luck with your business.

      I wouldn't have pinned you for a day over 40! ;)

Hence my interest in the skin care products ;)

Let the masses decide by posting and seeing how it goes. I think it is a good deal if you combine it with another purchase to gain free shipping. $99 worth of bears is still alot of bears though.

The prices look good. Bears aren't my cup of tea, but there are literally thousands of visitors and members browsing each day - you will find some fans.
Note the deal pages get much more traffic than the forums, so I would say 'suck it and see'.
It would be great if you followed up in this thread letting us know how many sales the post got.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments. Will post this one to the Deals section and see the response, and also look into whether we can do a "Ozbargainers only postage coupon" or something.

Consider (also) posting a deal closer to Christmas, to give gift-giving-challenged male 20-30'ish year-olds some non Eneloops/HDD/MicroSD gift options :)

Just curious, are the bears made in Australia from Australian materials?

      • I can confirm they are designed in Australia, just chasing up where they're made and where the materials come from. Good question, one that I should have asked earlier.

      • +1

        Confirmed made in China.

That's a pity. Understandable, but a pity nonetheless. Thanks for checking.

  • Those bears don't look too happy!

    • Stoic perhaps?

    • They all seem to be single parent families :(

  • Post it, seems a good deal.
Not all members may go for it but it gets your deal out and into Google for people collecting bears.

    Mate, that's bearly a deal.

Don't be grizzly, we should pander to the OP.

This topic tends to polarise people.

        • +3

          These puns are unbearable. ;)

  • I was in the market for a bear a couple of days ago, sadly none of those look evil enough to fill the role. :(

  • Might as well give it a go.

No offense but your store is not a place i would frequent. I'd say i'm the wrong demographic.

Lol no thanks I don't want no teddy bear.

Maybe for an OZBargain aimed at 3 year olds.

  • Cute and fluffy teddies… Love their cute little dresses especially…. :)
But they all look kinda sad though! :(

  • +5

If you want to consider letting buyers send sad bear purchases direct to customers you could offer a drop bear option.

  • I would just suggest to post a deal anyway, you never know if it will attract the attention of the people who dont browse the forums

  • 41 year old female here - always looking for presents for kids etc. You just never know when a deal comes up that might suit your needs.
