Miele Washing Machine

After 3 washing machines only lasting 15 years between them, I've decided to go for a Miele. Since reading all the posts here, I can see that the prices are controlled, so no discounts from retailers. I thought I could buy a David Jones gift card through the Entertainment Book and use that to buy a Meile washing machine but DJ online transfers you to the Miele site and so nowhere to use a DJ gift card to purchase. Is there any way around that or do I have to suck it up and pay the full $1,999.99?

  • There are reasonably regular discounts for Miele appliances; they are usually a couple of hundred dollars off, depending on which ones you go for. My fridge, dishwasher and vacuum cleaner are also Miele so I get a booklet of discounts every few months. If you are in Melbourne there is a Miele place in South Melbourne. You might be able to talk to them about it and see if you can get on the mailing list.

I've looked up the Miele site and there appears to be some discounts at the moment; not sure which machine you were looking at.

My last Miele washing machine lasted 13 years. Not quite the 20 years they lead you to expect but not bad.

  • +1

Why not buy the machine in-store with the gift card?

  • I bit the bullet and payed $2k for my Miele, it's been a great investment so far. Best washing machine yet. The construction is awesome it's built to last.

I got this one and end of year sales for about $2k at the time.

  • Not sure what city you are in but I just heard on the radio a Harvey Norman advertisement and they said they having some Miele sale on now or this weekend.

  • Miele washing machines are not that good. Overpriced and most of the components are made in China like cheaper machines. And when something goes wrong repair technicians and parts are really very expensive. Also you can only buy genuine Miele parts…no suitable aftermarket/generic parts.
    Speaking from experience…

  • Miele washers up to $300 off until 31/10

    • That's cool uggugg but WHERE?

      • Like everywhere you can buy a Miele? DJs, Bing Lee, Good Guys, HN etc…

  • Thanks for the replies. I have thought long and hard about spending so much money but decided to go for the W 5873 WPS which is a clearance model just now going for $1999 from $2500. The reason being, that its got many good reviews but I can't see any for the newer models they've just brought out. However, I did go into the store and I can use the DJ vouchers, so that works out to an extra $200 off. I've thought about Bosch but they seem to have mixed reviews. Miele do have some not so good ones but mostly they seem to be considered a good investment.

  • Meile outlet:

Went there a couple of months back and prices are discounted but they might not have the model you want.

  • Thanks for the tip but unfortunately I'd already bought my machine. I did pass this link on to my friend and she went to the outlet place.

It's early days but so far I love my new washing machine, with all the different programmes etc I think you can definitely tell the difference between the Miele and the cheaper washing machines I've had in the past.

  • Trying to understand what makes someone buy a 2K+ machine - Is the washing quality really THAT different? If I buy a cheapish $700 Machine, Even if it lasts half as long as the Miele, I will be ahead. SO it really comes down to washing quality (and and cost of doing the washing). Could someone who uses a Miele and has used other machines in the past comment on how much better the washing is and what factors made them purchase a Miele.
