140

Just released a few days ago, "Minecraft: Story Mode" is already 50% off on GOG.com. (It's currently US$24.99 on Steam.)

Only the first chapter is available at this stage.

Curiously, on GOG.com the game is US$8.69 when visiting from Australia, but is US$12.49 when using a US VPN.

  • Is this just the first chapter price or the season pass?

    • It's the season pass.

      From the description:

In this five part episodic series, play as either a male or female hero named 'Jesse,' and embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. …

The first user review on GOG "Not too bad but WOW it is very short" :P

  • +2

as with most telltale games the first episode will be free pretty quickly as a way to entice people to buy them all.

  • Great find op. Thank you!

What's the relation to minecraft? Does it require Minecraft? Does it include Minecraft? A stripped back shell of minecraft with just enough functions to run Story Mode?

    • Its just using minecraft's brand

    • Never heard of telltale?

      • +1

Welcome to the consumer awareness of the larger majority of the games industry. This is why Telltale's Minecraft has 3.0 User Score on Metacritic (Which, for once, I don't agree with)

And is it a code that is issued when purchased?

  • The reason why its showing as 8.69 in au is because of their fair pricing. so that you just pay 12.5 aud as well. i guess..

  • +2

Good price but the game has received very poor reviews. They are taking a building toy, which has no story per se and shoving that into a minimally interactive story. This does not play to either the strengths of Telltale or of Minecraft.

  • looks like it has expired already, back to $24.99

  • I couldn't get this working at all earlier today.. it would display as $12.5something AUD but when I went to checkout it would always change to $24.9something AUD

so I'll end up waiting a few months and buy it cheaper then. Much prefer having my Telltale games as DRM free copies - easier to install and play them on the (work) laptop (after hours, of course) than having to worry about Steam etc. being installed.
