  • Thanks OP! Anyone had one? What's the quality like?

    • Have a look through Kronic's post for some comments :)

  • 10+ year old headphones.
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/multimedia/display/zalman-h…

how long have they been sitting around for?

  • purchased this when it first came out. found that i had to customized the volume for the front, center and rear on the PC. works fine on any other device, tv, amp etc.

good value for the price, however there are better ones if your thinking of professional gaming.

    • keep in mind that this is the USB version so it'll only work on the PC. It doesn't have separate 3.5mm jacks for each channel. i actually purchased this a little couple of months ago from 1-day too. but only realised it was USB afterwards. asked them to cancel it straight away and they did (even though it seems like they don't have a change of mind policy)

    • Which one is good for Gaming ( Cheaper ofcourse) and can connect to TV ?

      • Depends what your Gaming is? PC, XBONE, PS4, Atari ect…

        • XBONE but need any wired/wireless headphones cheap and good. i know Very hard to get cheap and good. Either cheap or good.

Had one of these Zalmans when they first came out MANY years ago. They didn't last long. Wires inside came loose and were just way too tiny for me to strip and re-solder.

Now days I use a Koss Porta Pro which I bought on a whim, but I tell you what, running off a Sound Blaster Z this little guy PUMPS! It surprisingly has got all the basses covered (lows, mids and super tingy highs). Plus, replacement pads can be bought off ebay for about $2 for a couple of pairs.

What's more important is not what headset you get, but what soundcard you drive it off. Using on-board audio is equivalent to using on-board graphics.

Pair one of these up with a $9 Zalman mic and you have a comfy, lightweight, great sounding and cheap headset.

Down voted for offering my personal experience and advice.. I see how it is o_O

        • @Bludshed: Maybe they down voted you for not figuring out a way to solder or replace the cord

        • @Bludshed: there there take my upvote

  • I can vouch for their customer service. No idea about the headphones.

  • Will this work on PS3's USB port , if so , an interesting option ;)

People are talking about USB here but the zalman site shows 3x stereo jacks.
    http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=68…

The deal's site says about the jacks but also says "Input: 1 USB connection port (USB 1.1/2.0 Compatible)"

    To top it up http://www.engadget.com/products/zalman/zm-rs6f/specs/
    says under specs:
    Connections: Wireless
    Cable length: 9.8 feet

    I am very confused.

the one 1-day is selling is the USB version. look at the specs on the 1-day page

      Model: ZM-RS6F USB

but yeah they probably just pasted the description regarding the jacks

here are actual pics (and review) of the product, showing the usb soundcard directly attached to the headset

      • Very useful, thank you.
However the review is from 2007!
Would this device be similarly old?!? (even if mint)
From my experience with plastics the padding and faux leather parts should be disintegrating by now…

  • This USB version looks like it could be useful on a laptop for cheap surround sound gaming. Bought one, thanks OP.

Mate and I paid $50 each (3.5mm version) for one of these back in the days, picked it up at the front door of a hairy guy who was wearing a nothing but a stained wife beater and white jocks.

Opinions on the 3.5mm jack version:
The audio cable had a rubber stopper fused to it inside the ear cup which bore the brunt accidental jerks of the cable. It lasted 8 years before I walked away from the PC while wearing it, one too many times. It's fairly light so you can forget you're wearing it.
The cable is wrapped in thick but flexible plastic that was very durable to being rolled over by the chair.
The ear cup faux leather is really thin and caused a bit of sweating around the ears, that wore away within the first 2 years but subsequently allowed for better air circulation to the ears.
The head piece was made of high quality plastic and joints that felt sturdy and proved to be so in the 8 years of use.
Sound is quiet average given that it's only 20mm drivers and the software configuration of the driver/speaker was cumbersome (think Windows 98).
Don't expect much bass as you'd either have to mix the bass into the centre channel or go without. So this is actually a 5.0 headphone.
It's actually decent at differentiating the different sound directions but it isn't very good at scaling the volume to reflect the distance to the source of the sound, I suspect this may require some further software/tuning.

Either way, it's a cheap way to try true discrete "5.1" in a headphone before investing something more expensive like the Razer Tiamat 7.1.

I'll put it this way… my version with the three jack input and for the price… $29. I am absolutely freaking ecstatic at it. If I paid $89 I'd be very disappointed… but $29? Incredible!

I guess this version would suit the people with older PC systems who don't have 5.1 output on the motherboard/sound card.

You could do a hell of alot worse for the price! A hell of alot worse!

Ah well… I ended up ordering one as well.
Not that I needed any… DAMN YOU OB!
