10% off Apple Mac at David Jones

210

Hi,

It comes to my surprise that David Jones is offering the 10% off their Mac and this discount actually comes off the original old price. For example, the Macbook 12" 256GB was listed for $1,799 (compared to the new $1,999), so takes 10% off, it is now only $1,619.10. Plus the 10% off eGift Card through Entertainment Book and/or 7% cashrewards cashback, this is the cheapest price you could get for now.

Not sure when the deals will end. Edit: Reported to be 3rd of November.

Edit: The 7% cashrewards cashback doesn't apply to Apple products as per T&C.

Wait for TA to negotiate with his CashRewards Buddy for a 15% cashback to match this offer.

  • How do the Entertainment Book gift cards work? Is there a limit to the voucher size, and if so, are they stackable?

    • +2

You need to buy the Entertainment Book for $65 then login to buy. I believe the limit is $1,000 of voucher per day. You may buy $1,000 today and another for tomorrow. But please be in mind that the deal could end any time.

You can only buy $1000(2x $500) in gift cards per day and should be able to use multiple e-gift cards per order.

edit: beat me by 25 seconds.

  • Super confusing - looks like the Pro's & Air's descriptions are just copy/pasted on DJ's website. Example: "Macbook Pro - 256gbssd" says "5400-rpm SATA drive" in the description. No model #'s either. Would these be the latest models? Good deal if they are…!

    • You could call them to confirm the model number

After being in queue with their online support phone line for 30 mins I called a store but they didn't have the model I wanted in stock. Guy did say the promo ends November 3rd though :)

Thanks OP, I bought $1600 of DJ's gift cards through Entertainment Book ($1000 through mine and $600 through my parents) and got the Apple iMac 21.5" 2.7GHz for parents. From $1799 to $1459.10 with free delivery, after the 10% off sale and 10% off $1600 gift cards through ent book.

The eGift cards came instantly for anyone wondering and I was able to apply 4 in the cart (3 x $500, 1 x $100).

    • Hamza can you please explain in more detail how you applied the eGift cards. Did you just apply Promotion Codes to your order?

      • +1

You will be emailed links to the eGift cards from the entertainment book. Will look like this:

Thank you for your David Jones eGift Card order!
        Download below:
        David Jones eGift Card
        David Jones eGift Card

Each gift card will have a 16 digit gift card card number and a 4 digit pin. In checkout you just choose gift card as payment method and enter each 16 digit eGift Card number and 4 digit pin and apply.

Any remaining balance once you have applied all the gift cards can be paid by credit card.

        Hope that helps

        • Thank you Hamza. Once you use a gift card does the price of the product change to the discounted price? If you only use a $500 egift card on somethign worth $1000 will the whole price of the product be discounted 10% or only $500 worth?

        • +2

          @PrinceK:

The price won't be discounted by a further 10% on David Jones, the gift cards are discounted by 10% through the entertainment book.

So a $500 gift card will cost you $450 at entertainment book, you then apply the $500 gift card to your purchase. There is no discount shown in checkout at David Jones, the website price is the sale price and is what will show in checkout.

So for example $1799 imac is $1619.10 on the David Jones website.

You buy $1600 of David Jones Gift cards through the entertainment book for $1440.

You then have $1600 of gift cards which you paid $1440 for, you apply the $1600 of gift cards to your purchase in DJ's checkout. In this example that would then leave $19.10 left over which you can pay for by credit card or similar.

        • @hamza23: Wow thank you for clearing that up for me Hamza ! I didn't want to buy a $65 entertainment book if it wasn't going to work haha. Appreciate your detailed replies !

        • @PrinceK:

No problems. You don't have a NIB membership or energy with Lumo energy do you? As they also have a David Jones Gift card offer as part of being a customer.

Also make sure 100% that the item you want to buy is definitely in stock before you purchase the gift cards and the price is correct. Don't want to be stuck with the gift cards otherwise.

Also check if any family or friends have the entertainment book that you could use to buy the gift cards (the gift cards will be emailed to them but they can forward it to you)

        • +1

@hamza23: No i'm not with NIB or Lumo but my friend does have the entertainment book so I'm planning to use hers :) I called David Jones and they said they will send it from any dicksmith store that has the pro if that store doesn't have it.

  • IF your a NIB member you can get further 10% off gift cards https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/214333

    • Every time I add gift vouchers to my shopping cart I get an error: "You must add at least one gift card to your cart". Tried using Mac/PC and a variety of browsers.

      Did you have any issues?

      • I havent bought any, maybe call NIB for help

      • Yes I get that. Got fed up and gave up trying.

  • Are they (the ones DJ selling) the latest 2015 model Macbooks?

    • Yes. MBP Retina and 12" Macbook are latest 2015 versions in DJ.

      • What about Mac Air 13"?

        • Since MB Air 13" mentioned 12 hours battery life in DJ's description, I think it is the latest model. If I remember correctly, latest version has upgraded from 10 hours to 12 hours of battery life and faster SSD. Also, taptic forced touch feature on new touch pad.

  • Anyone know what DJ's return policy/cooling off period is?

    • +2

You won't have any problems with a return on this for change of mind.

      See return policy
This policy applies to all purchases made from David Jones, online or instore.

If you have changed your mind about your purchase, David Jones will be pleased to offer you a refund or exchange provided that:

      • You have produced satisfactory Proof of Purchase; and
      • The item is in a saleable condition (i.e. the original tags and labels are still attached, the item is in its original packaging (if any), and the item is unworn, unused and as sold); and
      • The item is not a Special Exception (see below)

Apple or computers aren't listed in the special exceptions (only computer software).

      • Excellent, thank you. Do you know if there is a time limit on that?

        • Hmm it doesn't mention any time limit, I guess do it as soon as possible to be safe or give them a call. I've only returned something to DJ's once and that was after 3 weeks if that is any help.

  • Has anyone had any luck getting Office Works to price match the David Jones sale price?

    • Just to confirm that I just got Office Works to price beat David Jones for a MacBook Pro 13 inch retina 256GB. Office works beat the price and final was $1,794.64 with free same day delivery.
