Weathers starting to warm up so for those that like the Hog this seems like a pretty good price.

Plus a bit more off with Cashrewards.

Also Little Creatures Pale Ale is $59.95 per case of 24 @ Dan Murphy's

  • I haven't seen it cheaper.

Seems to be $61.99 in qld

      Same in SA

      • +1

and in Sydney… where exactly is it discounted?

        • +1

WA it is. I'll see if I can edit it to reflect that it's possibly WA only.

        • +1

Same in Vic - is it in store only?

        • +1

@Hypnotoad: Hypnotoad I bought mine online.

The discounted price is due to DM beating the Liquorland price, so maybe that is also WA only.

          Apologies for leading anyone astray.

Since when do beers come in cases of 16?

    • +7

Deceptive marketing. This translates to $77.93 per NORMAL non-BS 24 per carton carton. Sound like a deal now?

For bonus points, it's also only 330mL per bottle.

      Nice beer, terrible price.

      • +2

Agreed, great beer but too steep price and personally if I was to pay that much for a beer I prefer Sierra Nevada Torpedo….

        • cant agree more, does Sierra Nevada go on sale much?

        • @obiwan: Imported so not really. Cheap in the US though!

    • +1

Maybe they reduced their cases from 24 to 16, 'Due to customer feedback' ?

      • +1

Nope. Just to deceive customers. Remember how a stubbie used to be 375ml? Then most dropped to 330ml. Now we have these craft brewers peddling this 16 bottle crud. Sorry but no thanks. Amy Brewer that will dick about with short cases won't get my money.

Not to mention shipping is no cheaper for one of these mini cartons.

    • +1

Next they'll come in cases of 12.

      • +1

That's unaustralian. Slabs should only be 24 (12 for long necks) and if they sneak more in then that's patriotic and defines mateship.

        • +1

Yep. And stuff this 330ml crap. Sure maybe imports were always that size, but we didn't even used to manufacture ones that size until they started with this brewed under license fake import crap.

  • +2

This is a great beer though. Recently tried it on tap at Dove and Olive in Surry Hills; delicious!

    • Agreed, it's a brilliant beer

  • That seems to be a fairly regular DM price for LCPA over in Vic nowadays. Still tasty, but not as good a beer since they dropped some of the cascade for galaxy.

Best beer in Australia IMO. This is my go to beer and I buy it when it's at its' standard price of $68 every second week so this is a bargain.

I think it's won the best beer award 3 times in a row.

If you haven't tried it I couldn't recommend it enough, especially if your into IPAs or craft beers in general. I didn't realise how bad the mainstream beers were until my mate got me into the craft beer scene.

If you like the Hog/IPA's, for similar money, I'd recommend Ballast Point Big Eye India Pale Ale ($78.99 for case of 24x355mL at Dan's NSW) or Karl Strauss Tower 10 IPA ($75.99 for case of 24x355mL). Not quite as tasty but IMHO, but still very tasty and Australian is Gage Roads Sleeping Giant IPA ($52.90 for case of 24x330mL)
The Big Eye is my pick. (Note: Hop Hog is $55.90 when I check Dan's in website Sydney)

    • Down to 55.90 in Vic as well now, good enough for me to get a couple of cases.

    • thanks for the tip, I am going to try Big Eye! Hop Hog is good but at that price I would prefer a bigger IPA

I'm sure those whingeing about a case of 16 and 330ml bottles have no issue coughing up for 'full strength' beer that are ~4% abv. Now THAT is unaustralian!

This beer is 5.4% and you would need to spend more than $80 a case to find a better beer.

    • I think it's 5.8%? They are insanely sessionable I find and I wake up with a thumping hangover because they are so easy to drink.

If you like this beer id also recommend Mash copycat AIPA. Also brewdog punk IPA ( i reckon it smells like twinpoles, those icypoles you'd have as a kid that could break in half to share ) and "epic HOP zombie" if you can find any.

      • I loved Hop Zombie in NZ, how does Mash Copycat AIPA and Brewdog compare to Zombie?

    • +1

Not me… Beer with an ABV below 5% is just un-Australian… Light beer. Of the beer I'm drinking, most are above 6, a few above 8, and one or two just over 5 :P
