Was looking for a laptop for a friend, was actually looking for a 17" but came across this i7 for under $800 delivered, 8Gb Ram, I'm no expert but this looks pretty good (similar spec to the one Kogan emailed me about this morning for $999 at a glance!)

Usually you will get the same specs but with a 2gb graphics card from dick smith when they have a sale around $700s/800s

Note that it's a dual core ulv i7, nothing beats a quad but they're getting fewer and further between.
This is a fairly average price for these kind of specs if you dig around a bit.

  • I bought a 17" with an i5 CPU (little bit slower than the i7) but it came with a 930m gfx chip.
Got it for $660 during the Good Guys/eBay sale a few days ago.

  • Honestly I don't understand why people are paying $700 for a HD laptop, rather than FHD. Just get a $500 laptop if you're happy with HD, or spend a bit more for a decent FHS laptop. This is a really awkward price range.

  • Will it play youtube and run Facebook? :)
