These are cheaper @ Zavvi if you don't need it straight away:

    Die Hard 1-5 Legacy Collection (5 Discs) Blu-ray - $25.13 + $1.99 Postage
    Oceans Trilogy Blu-ray - $21.26 + $1.99 Postage

I gave up with buying blu-rays from Zavvi. Every time i bought blu-rays from them it arrived through the post with smashed up blu-ray cases because the packaging protection is crap. So no thanks. I'd rather buy from JB Hi-Fi for a few dollars more and know that the blu-ray cases are alright.

      • Ugh, that makes me feel ill. I ordered an ultra limited steelbook last week.

        • +1

Yeah. I've bought a few steelbooks from Zavvi (although this was quite some time ago) and it was only shipped in a thin cardboard mailer. Had a few that had dents on it through the shipping. Zavvi £0.99 shipping is just crap there's hardly any package protection.

        • @hollykryten:

Looks like an unboxing video is in order so I can claim a refund.

        • @Dagmar:

good luck with that , its Zavvi not Amazon

        • +2

I've had zero problems with zavii, ordered steelbooks too.

        • +1

I've ordered from Zavvi quite a few times, never had a problem at all with the condition of the products

        • Most of my Zavvi discs come in a bubble-padded envelope, same as my JB ones if I recall correctly.

        • Mine have always been in a cardboard envelope. Hasn't caused issues with damage. I dont buy often, maybe a dozen so far?

Have had one not arrive - zavvi were b-stards to deal with in that case.

        • +1

Probably find that the problem lies with Australia Post.

jbhifi is due for a 20 percent off sale
    wait a while!

Oceans Trilogy has gone up in price. I bought the set for $24 about 2 years ago. Not on special either.

If you're going to shell out money for the Die Hard set, may as well commit to getting this.

    • +1

The tanked aussie dollar compared to $USD is the reason why it costs more now.

      • I understand economics. Even so, I still wouldn't pay for something that was (not on special) cheaper in the past.

    • Wait, that's US$105… That's not just a small amount!

      • +2

        It's the Nakatomi plaza building!

      • I didn't say it was cheaper :D

        It's sexy as hell.

    • +1

Oceans Trilogy has gone up in price.

This only includes Ocean's Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen.

Anyone know where to get Ocean's One through to Ten?

      Can't find them anywhere online.

  • +1

The version of robocop included in the trilogy set is apparently the crappy old version, not the newly remastered disc.
And the version of Predator in the trilogy set is the new one which is DNR'd to high hell and back.

  • +2

No amount of remastering could ever make RoboCop 2 and 3 watchable.

    • Lol. Number 2 was the best!

Fair call on number 3 though.

  • All of these, except Elm St, are significantly cheaper from Amazon UK.
Plus Amazon UK has the Robocop trilogy with the remastered first movie.

    • I think you're looking at the wrong versions.

The only Die Hard Blu Ray set they've got with all 5 movies is a US Import for ~$70. I think you're looking at the 4 movie ~$21 + delivery set.

The 3 disc Predator set is ~$31 + delivery. I think you're looking at the single disc ~$21 version.

The Remastered Robocop is another single disc for all three movies version, although the 3 disc version is only ~$20 + delivery.

Nightmare on Elm Street is just more expensive at ~$37 + delivery.

Oceans appears to be genuinely cheaper 3 disc version but the same version as JB Hi Fi is still ~$36 + delivery.

Whether those differences are worth something to you or not is another question, but they're not the same thing at a lower price.

        They aren't 3 movies on 1 disc. They're 3 discs in 1 case.

        • They aren't 3 movies on 1 disc. They're 3 discs in 1 case.

Fair enough then. I was pretty baffled as to why there were listed as up to 3 movies per disc as I would have thought you'd have to lower the quality for that. But it's just a bad labelling on Amazon's part. Makes way more sense.

      • Max has a point. They are cheaper on Amazon UK.

Regarding Predator and RoboCop, although the listing states '1 disc', they are three separate discs. Logic and the reviews confirm this.

"All of these, except Elm St, are significantly cheaper from Amazon UK…"

Whereas this is a legitimate alternative to point out, I think it is not a valid reason to neg this deal. Your alternative requires overseas purchase and longer shipping times. If you had countered with an Australian-based source, that would be different.

      • +2

        Cheaper price elsewhere

It's a perfectly fine reason to neg the deal.

Delivery from Amazon UK is quite quick. The OP talks about Christmas which is 2 months away. I agree if it were for some special occasion sooner, then Amazon might not be a good alternative.

I appreciate people who neg deals for valid reasons. If they just commented, their comment might get lost among the others. Would you prefer to pay higher prices because you missed someone's comment that the product is available cheaper elsewhere?

        • -2

Not really, you're negging the deal because the OP didn't search the entire internet to verify if JB's price was the cheapest price on the planet.

        • +1

          @Minotaur:
Thank you for telling me what I'm doing. Can you please tell me what the purpose of this site is again? I'm all confused now.

        • -2

@Max Power: Sure. It's for posting bargains, not for putting someone else's post down because you've found one that's better.

        • +3

          @Minotaur:
Have I used offensive language? Have I insulted the OP? Please report my comments if I've done something wrong.
I'm starting to worry that bullying people for valid negs is becoming a trend.

It's the first valid reason for a negative vote.

The deal is not the cheapest available
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

        • -3

@Max Power: Negging a post is putting down that post by definition. I'm not saying you insulted anyone.

        • +2

          @Minotaur:
So you have a problem with the voting system? No one is allowed to vote unless it's a positive vote?

        • -2

@Max Power: Nope, but I am concurring with jdr that just because the price might be a bit cheaper if you order it from the other side of the world and are happy to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive, that the original post should be negged. By all means, getting it from Amazon UK is an alternative, but it doesn't make the JB deal bad, for those that are happy to buy local, want it straight away, or want to be able to return it locally if there's an issue with a disc etc.

        • +2

          @Minotaur:

price might be a bit cheaper

          ~25% cheaper

You're entitled to vote your way, and I'm entitled to vote my way, provided it's within the rules.
Please stop telling me how to vote when I'm not breaking any rules.

  • jb's has the six disc die hard - all the other cheaper options are 5 disc versions - i have no idea what they are missing

  • Is Robocop the uncut directors version or the modified one

  • A Nightmare On Elm St Collection has been cheaper in the past. Just wish they would release the uncut versions of these movies and also a complete Friday The 13th box set with all the movies.

    • is this what you want

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Friday-The-13th-Complete-12-Film-…

it is a decent set the stuff inside is pretty nice - it does not have plastic cases, it instead has a cardboard sleeve book with an Image and some text related to each film.

You get the Original 10 films on 7 bluray discs

The set then complete with Freddy vs Jason and the Friday the 13th Remake (theatrical and Extended Cut)

finally an extra Special features DVD and some 3D glasses for part 3 - the Bluray include the 3D and Non 3D Version.

  • Die Hard collection is $34 at Sanity.

    http://www.sanity.com.au/products/2283889/Die_Hard_-Legacy_Collection-_25th_Anniversary_Edition

  • I've been reluctant to buy a Die Hard boxset as the extended versions of 4 and 5 haven't been on Bluray. I see they are now, but with the 6th (and final?) movie in development I think I will wait and get a complete boxset once that one comes out.
