Mobile Invoice - High Service Charge

Need your advise, My mobile service is a 25$ per month for 500$ Talk credit and it supposed to ban outgoing calls when it reach the maximum, I just received a new invoice of 235$ from my provider for last period. Despite my outgoing calls was banned for last few days of that period, it seems that I have used more than what I supposed to use without getting notified. Shall I just pay the invoice (and learn my lesson) or is there anything else I can do?

is it prepaid plan? normally prepaid plan means pay first after use so not sure how u was charged? but i recommend call provider and ask did they send any notification to you?like, your phone credit is over and will be charged afterward.if not, then you can go for fight by arguing that u had to tell me before give me any service u can not charge as i could say no at first place. or upgrade plan. so tried to push them that that is your fault to sell product without my agreement. so not sure your case but i had work out and they gave satisfactory credit.
contract is offer and acceptance so there is no acceptance at first i will not pay if i will pay next upgrade cap. stand on your argument strong will hope work out for you.

    • Yes it is prepaid plan, I pay 25$ per month for 500$ talk credit. they supposed to send usage notification and on 100% usage the outgoing calls should be banned. In my case it seems that they system banned outgoing call after 48 hours my usage reached to 100%. I did receive notification (100% usage) only after I used over, same time they banned outgoing calls.

Doesn't sound like a prepaid plan if you are paying a set amount each month. It's probably a monthly contract.

        • No it is not a contract, it is just a monthly service with auto-renews every 30days

        • @Arash:

Yea, that means it isn't prepaid.

Not sure if telcos are legally obligated to notify customers if their are about to go over their credit limit, but many of them do. The thing is with these notifications is that they aren't live, there can be a 24-48 hour delay to what you actually used. This includes data as well as credit.

If you didn't get any notifications, I'd say you may as well email them to see if they would waive or at least reduce the amount.

        • @Arash:

Link the "prepaid" plan. It sounds like a postpaid to me

        • I just checked that in details, I have received an SMS from them that my calls are restricted (around 15:30) and I had an outgoing call after that (around 21:00 same day). seems my service was not restricted the same time I received the restriction notification from provider.

          @Arash:
That is still post paid, just you are month to month not a contract.

        • @Arash: so you knew you were over the limit and still made calls?

        • @Arash: what network? Telstra, Optus or Vodafone

      • I have both plan prepaid and post paid prepaid when run out credit they never can be used that SIM card for out going call up to recharge so must be post paid so they can keep charging u up to u never know u run out monthly credit.

  • I think you should try to switch to one of those plans that have $25 for $25/$50 worth of calls, but the call rate is 20/10x less, so if you go over then you will only be paying around 10 cents a minute.

You can try the TIO route, but this may take several hours and weird call times when you are at work, in which case your employer might get peeved. true story

  • You are being ripped off. Optus and Vodafone both have combos for $30 a month that are prepaid with unlimited talk and txt. Your plan sounds like you should take a big fat dump on it and leave.

    • I guess it also depends on data, international calls etc.

  • Just pay and learn your lesson :)

    • nah dont do that

call them and tell them you're gonna leave after this final bill and see how they react

they will want to retain you, sure you may need to upgrade to a better plan but thats cheaper than paying $200+

  • You could always checking your phone companies website to see if they have a top-up plan and call them with a story.

I had a extra $150 on my phone bill due to using my phone as a internet hot-spot one time and called them up, brought it down to a $30 extra bill.

  • You have, by definition, a post paid month to month plan. You need to move to a pre paid plan. There are some great ones available now for $25 to $30 a month. Check out Amaysim @ $25 and Optus @ $30.

Because the current plan is post paid you should call them to try to get a reduction, but then dump them for pre paid. Who is the carrier?

  • kogan new prepaid mobile service using vodafone maybe? and your screwed, you have to pay it. No TIO dispute will work but you might get a reduction on the bill (maybe)
