    Mono or Poly?
    Inverter single string or duel?
How long has the company ZEUS APOLLO been in business who backs there warranty?

  • Hi Mrcoom - The panels are poly Tier 1. The inverter is dual string so we can install on 2 faces of your property. Zeus Appollo have been operating in the Solar industry for 9 years and are fully insured by Chubb insurance.

  • +3

ZEUS APOLLO are know to create a cheap price but also cheap quality , better off sticking with a trina , qcell something high end i this system shouldnt be more than 3800-4000.
    I used to sell solar

    • We appreciate your comments, but we have been selling Zeus Appollo for a long time and have had no issues with performance or product workmanship

  • +3

Is it just me or is there a math problem here?

    $7000 - 46% is $3780.

Also 5 year warranty on the inverter is tiny. If its not 10 years or more its not worth it.

    • Inverters normally only have about 5 years in them but is the least costly replacement in the system - im mostly concerned about the panels as replacing the system is the last thing anyone wants to do

      • I get what you mean but inverters are still quite expensive.

Having one fail 6 years into it will likely destroy any potential savings you could have received from having solar panels in the first place!

        • +1 to that

        • After 6 years your solar should have "paid for itself" so it's unlikely that only the inverter dying would wipe out your "savings".

        • +1

          @coxymla:

Even if you were right, buying another inverter after its paid for itself would mean you won't see profit.

  • I would also stick to an aurora or SMA for your inverter

    • We do sell Aurora and SMA if the customer wants it, but if you do your googling which i'm sure you do, these inverter are starting to fail in our climate. Due to them being built for European conditions. We are replacing up to 2 per week.

      • +2

Can you provide sources? I did some quick googling and didn't find anything solid.

        • Aurora had a few bad batches with failing caps and errors (i.e E031) but sorting by age on PVoutput shows that many of the australian inverters still working are SMA, Fronius and Aurora… sounds like you are just trying to push your higher margin products

          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2330613

  • Maybe we get a further 46% off haha!

    • Surely as "professionals" we can take them to court and make them honor it? right?? :-)

  • +1

According to all the "knowledgeable" peeps over whirlpool way the panels aren't that crash hot either.

Says they are "Zeus Appollo are just re-badged Suntellite / Sunny Energy / ZDNY"

So make sure you do your homework before the purchase

    • Of course they are.

The solar panel companies in Brisbane that I contacted all had the same trick.

Everything is rebranded so the customer thinks its better then generic junk.

Not only that but they gave me ridiculous figures on how much money I would make from them.

Its like they assumed I had no job and ran my air conditioner 24/7.

Hi SirNed - The Tier 1 Zeus Appollo panel we are offering is actually a re-branded Risen Energy Panel. Which have solid warranty and performance. Unfortunately in this case whirlpool has given bumb steer :)

      • +1

        hehe you said bumb

      • How long have you guys been in business , how long have you been called apollosolarbrisbane

        • Entity name: APOLLO SOLAR BRISBANE PTY LTD
ABN status: Active from 21 Jan 2013

        • @samfisher5986: Not to bad for a solar company 3 yrs but still any company with shorter existence worries me ,worse places out there tho

        • @Mrcoom: To get a technical we have been installing since 2010 through our parent company iMalekky (Hiette Corp)

        • @apollosolarbrisbane:

Earlier in this thread you state:

"Zeus Appollo have been operating in the Solar industry for 9 years and are fully insured by Chubb insurance."

          I'm not quite understanding this….

        • @webbiegareth: Zeus Appollo is the manufacture, as Apollo Solar we are a retailer.

Its a lesson to learn for your next ozbargain post.

We need a great bargain, and we want all the gritty information upfront.

  • $1000 per KW is good.

Don't worry about brands and what-not, you'll be ripping it out in 5-10 years to replace with something twice as good at half the price.

Loving my 3 KW, wish I went for 4 or 5.

    • Using that logic you will need to make a decent profit in 5-10 years which can be very hard.

We don't have Tesla Powerwalls yet.

      • Payoff term of around 5-6 years is pretty standard in a sunny climate.
If it's any longer than that it's not worth getting solar - put the money on your home loan instead.

    • 5 years ago $1000 kw was great systems were 10k-20k now the average price of a system is $5000 and i disagree about ripping it out there are no where near as many benifits such as the feed in tarrif ect to make return on investment quickly so ripping i out in 5 years is basically no benifit and would be lucky to break even

  • +1

Slightly off topic but relates to solar and feed in tarrif's so stuff it its on topic (I hope)

When the 25c TFIT runs out next year for those that are on it what is the best way to use the panels on the roof to still get the maximum benefit from having them?

Right now I don't have a bank of Tesla's anywhere (although I do have waaaaaay too many Eneloops) so storage of KW's isn't an option.

Curious to know as the wife has been badgering about why we bothered if the return on investment post TFIT isn't going to be as high.

put timers on anything that can run during the day dishwashers, washing machines, pool pump ect so you use most of whats generated thats all you can really do

      • Do people get anal about what the weather for the day is going to do? Makes sense if its sunny to run when generating but I presume it would need some smarts about it in the event its a cloudy day (in Melbourne we get a few of them).

On a good day we generate 13KW so having a staggered approach to usage to the afternoon makes sense.

        • because panels generate based on ambient light not direct sunlight its very hard to say what type of weather will significantly effect your panels.

More spam from companies trying to use OzBargain for free advertising. Ugh. Go away.

    • lol!

  • Zeus Appollo are just re-badged Suntellite / Sunny Energy / ZDNY.

    Cheap Chinese.

    • Hi Manman as mentioned above; The Tier 1 Zeus Appollo panel we are offering is actually a re-branded Risen Energy Panel and not the above mentioned. Which have solid warranty and performance. To date we have not had an issue with these panel and have better warranty than most panels.

      • The Zeus Appollo Suntellite photovoltaic modules are German Engineered and manufactured using state of the art production lines from China.

So, it is like Apple Iphone, designed in USA and manufactured in China?

Everyone is a HIGHLY QUALIFIED "EXPERT" TYRE KICKER WHO DOESNT EVEN OWN A SOLAR SYSTEM!!

    • +3

I don't think it's unreasonable for people to question a supplier that's using this forum to drum up business. As someone without a solar system but interested in getting one at some point, I'm finding the questions and comments informative and helpful. Except your comment, which is of no help whatsoever.
