These are replica GameCube controllers for the Wii U. GameCube is an old school Nintendo console from back in the day.
I was about to question your "back in the day" claim and then I wiki'd it. I totally didn't realise it came out in 2001/2, I only ever remember playing one around 2005! Great console

I have that one (but not the one linked in OP).
Different shape and the latter has turbo buttons. Both don't feel the same as the official Gamecube controller, but still play well. Both connect via the wii remote.
The one you linked is made by PDP, not Nintendo. It is licensed though, so its decent quality.
That being said, The Mighty Ape ones are much truer to form to the original GameCube controller and are made by Nintendo themselves. Better buttons and they arent glossy like the ones you linked.
But its all personal taste.
The one's from Mighty Ape are made by Hori, not Nintendo. Neither are official GameCube controllers. They just plug into the bottom of a Wii Remote.
Except the Wario and Donkey Kong controllers are only made by PDP.
That Usb adapter is adorable.
The controllers produced by Hori are much better than the PDP. Look for the yellow C-stick.

This controller is actually a Classic Controller Pro but designed to look like a GameCube controller.
It plugs into the bottom of a Wii Remote.
