Best Budget 5 inch Android Phone Recommendations? (under $300)

Trying to keep it under $300. Wife currently uses an S4 Samsung but broke screen.
Requirements: Android, at least 5 inch screen, good battery life, under $300.

Would I be that much better off spending an extra $50 and getting the Motorolla Moto G 3rd Gen?

Hit me guys.

I picked up one of the Redmi Note 2 Primes on the last deal pretty good bang for your buck.

    …broke screen

LCD or just digitiser? Might be worth repairing.

Otherwise MotoG 2nd or 3rd, or ASUS ZenFone.

  • Grab Xperia Z2 from gumtree if you know what to buy and how. You can get it around $300.

    Lenovo k3 note

    • My lenovo k3 is a pain. I use my phone as a GPS when driving and there are 2 problems.
      1. Charge rate is slower than it burns energy in google maps. So on a long trip, while plugged into a variety of 2.1 amp chargers and cables it always gets flatter and flatter until it just goes 100% flat and will not reboot for a good while as it has to recharge to a minimum point before restarting.
      2. Running google maps the phone must be out of the sun or the screen gets a shimmer and a couple of minutes later it auto shuts off due to heat. If you could mount it in front of a air con vent it would okay, until it runs out of power.

My old Samsung note II still leaves this for dead in every aspect I have used it.

  • seems like the Lenovo K3, the Redmi note 2 and zenfone 6 are the front runner-the others are all under 5 inch screens I think.

    Thanks guys.

      They're all 5.5" or larger.

      In 5" the earmarked Moto G Gen3 is a good one. Otherwise check the Bluboo XTouch. US$150 presale on Wednesdays (~AUD210). 5" FHD, 3000maH, 3GB RAM 32GB, MT6753 quad-core, dual-SIM or 1-SIM+SD card, 5.1, fingerprint reader, LTE, 2.5D gorilla glass 3.
