Looks like someone doesn't know what is a preorder.

And what's the big difference between this and some cardboard box? More integrated and less need to search for good apps?

    • +10

Better lenses, better fit, more comfortable, built in sensors, charge while wearing, better control system, not made of cardboard.

That's fair enough. Priced appropriate I think.

These were announced as costing USD$99 at release.

If this is the case, not that great a deal i.e. RRP + $21 postage.

I think the AUD$300 ones you are referring to might be the previous Innovator's Edition?

I've had mine since Feb this year (old version with a Note 4).
You get lots of looks in public and a queue still forms to have a go.

It is fun to play some of the games and they add new features quite regularly.
Like, last week they added social screen sharing…
A virtual living room you share with 4 other people's avatars
and watch a video together and chat.
Hard to explain, but fun to experience.

So if you have the right phone I reckon it is worth a go.
I paid $249 for the old one.

I'm guessing when released it will be cheaper direct from Samsung.

(Sometimes they do 10% as well)

PS. "Kurios" is the quickest free/best demo to "blow peoples minds".

      you… use this in public?

  • For those that are waiting for a VR headset, Oculus will be launching early next year. Most likely priced more than this, but way more compatibility.

isnt this pretty much a better version of cardboard? wouldnt investing money into the oculus/htc vive be better?

    • +1

I think it's more about having a cheaper option and availability before oculus/vive launches next year.

I mean Playstation VR is expected to be close to a console price so most likely will be $400-$500. Oculus and Vive will be similar or more given that it will most likely be more powerful than PS VR.

This will probably be a cheaper entry point for people to get interested in VR before investing in the bigger boys.

  • How do you control the games?
