Bargain hunting for UHD 75" TV

I'm currently looking for a UHD tv 75" and I wanted to see if any ozbargainers know any good deals or recently purchase one with receipt so I can get price match.

  • What's the max you can pay? and does it have to be a big brand?

    • Preferably big brands. Trying to steer away from the Chinese manufacturers but I don't mind if there is a good review on one. Probably wants to keep the budget around $4k

  • I know you want a receipt, but I offer you some other price saving options you may want to consider.

Sorry if I am offering you, already considered ideas.

Also TV's in this size range need delivery and do not fit in almost any other car than a ute or similar.

I think at this stage, for a "decent brand", unless there is auction at Gray's, Carton damage at 2nds World, superficial scratches, or perhaps a refurb., due to a couple of pixels not working, then you would need to look at the Chinese manufacturers': Changhong, Haier, HiSense, Konka, Skyworth and TCL.
Also during flooding or storms, some electrical stores or warehouses may get damp boxes or flooding in-store, with sales of perfectly fine stock, that just was in a humid environment. Also look for demo's if there are any. Samsung offers a pretty thorough refurb. process on factory refreshed panel's, if you believe their on-line information, but I am unaware if any of these are sold in Australia.

    • Thanks for your advise. I like the idea of factory refurbished. They still have factory warranty right? But where can I get them?

      • Don't get a refurb to save a Couple of hundred bucks, just wait it out till one appears on this site. Got a 70 inch UHD on here last year for less than half RRP. You just have to be patient.

        • I can't wait till a deal to come up as I'm moving to my new apartment in 1-2 weeks

        • @prawnhead:

So cope without a TV for a few weeks? You have a laptop don't you?

          @thorton82:
I honestly and truly think that from a return on your dollar, just go for the TRENT86 great deal:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/218341

I know that the MONSTER displays that seduce at either Harvey's, Costco and other retailer's look pretty swish, but their display setting is on the most vivid and brightest setting to create a awe-inspiring look. Don't get fooled.

I really think 70 inch and greater is OTT for most lounge rooms any way.

Go for a more reasonable 55 to 60 inch, where there is a better price "sweet" spot. The price is much more reasonable and in a couple years the future 70+ inch 4K deals will be like today's $1K to $3K, 55 to 60 inch 4K deals.
Also VR and AR may well be a emerging or exciting option come the end of next year, who knows?

TRENT86 talks about price sweet spots and I think this advice is on the money.

  • Today, Harvey has aa 12% discount on all Sony TVs, bringing the KD75X8500C down to $4835. A little over budget but highly recommend.

    • Damn, I missed this deal. Too busy packing.

  • A little late, but the sony website has it for 3999 now on the KD-75x8500C
With cash rewards it should work out around 260 less as well.
