Ainol Mini PC - Share your experience (tips, tricks or general opinion/complaint)

For those who bought Ainol Mini PC from the past deals - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/216491

Care to share your thoughts/complaints/tips and tricks etc.

I have questions of my own that hopefully someone can shed some answers to it.

Inbuilt Battery

  • Is there a specific port that can be used for battery charging using its inbuilt 7000mAh or any of the 3 ports?
  • Is there a way of charging your device without having to turn the computer on?
  • Is there a way of deactivating the battery and not use it at all?

I have found myself and agreed to lots of reviewers, build quality is really good and feels like a premium device. It never gets too hot.

Minor improvement
I have added 4 small rubber feet on each corner like this (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/411vloTFkYL.SX300.jpg) to prevent it moving freely when connecting and disconnecting USB devices. I think it is good to have the gap to help with the heat.

You want us to share our first Ainol experiences?

i just did. was quite pleasant.

  • Anyone else get the wrong power adapter?

    • the converter you mean?

      • The box is labeled Ainol Adapter.

I haven't seen anything like it before in Australia.

It has two flat same-size parallel prongs.

        "Type A" on this page…

        • Ok you got the charger but do you get the adaptor? To fit australian power socket.

You should be able to get the adaptor from dicksmith or any other electronic stores.

        • Indeed. There is a tiny socket adaptor that accommodates the Ainol power adaptor.

I found it loose at the bottom of the courier bag.

  • So, who's pulled theirs apart already? (http://www.umpcportal.com/2015/08/inside-the-battery-powered…)

    • I dont think I will be doing that anytime soon.

  • Manual is here - (http://download.appinthestore.com/uploads/201505/Manual%20fo…)

Its the same as what's in the box, but with bigger text.

    • They are not that relevant to the current product honestly. So I skim read through it hoping to find information about the internal battery.

  • Has anyone tried connecting gamepad controller such as PS3 DualShock 3 or 4? Im planning to install classic game emulators alongside KODI.

  • i bought one from the geekbuying deal posted on ozbargain a few days ago. however when it arrived today i plugged it into the mains power and tried to power it on. the first few times the blue led light was flashing but it never got beyond the ainol splash/boot up screen - the screen then went black pretty soon after (a couple of seconds). a number of times later the same result but not the blue led light doesnt even turn on.

i've had it charging on mains for several hours but still no difference.

is it faulty? anyone else experience the same?

    thanks

    • thats bit weird, i didnt have that experience.
are you able to boot to BIOS? try tapping ESC button on your keyboard the moment you power it on.
once in the BIOS, check the boot options and check if you can see the flash HDD that should contain the operating system.

      • YOU ARE A GENIUS!

although i couldnt see where the HDD was in the BIOS menu, i just reset back to factory settings and rebooted and it fixed it!

thank you so much. the geekbuying support should have asked me to check this first. they wanted me to download 6GB worth of firmware and flash the unit!

        thank you again!

        • Oh wow. Thats great news, glad I can help. Enjoy your first ainol experience ;)

  • I have a different problem and was wondering if anyone is in the same boat. I initially had the unit running perfectly but when I tried charging there is no response at all. Tried a few different chargers (from previous gadgets and such) and none seem to work. The unit has now run out of battery and nothing seem to bring it back to life. There is no electrical activity at all, the LEDs don't even flash.

CS is abysmal, telling me to flash a new firmware when I can't even power the device on and telling me I can't get a refund as I contacted them 5 days after receiving the item. They very generously offered a $25 maintenance rebate.

Any help would be much appreciated otherwise I guess I will raise a paypal dispute and send it back.

    • hey, is it connected via hdmi to the tv? any picture?

try holding down the power button for a good 60seconds and maybe it will come to life. make sure you dont have any usb connected at all as it maybe drawing power and eventually draining your battery out.

      good luck

      • tried all the above and no luck :(on a side note how do you use the paypal free return shipping benefit?
