I realize it's different technology, but every single one of my Xbox 360 wireless controllers (5 of them, to be exact) ended up doing this over time. First party, too. Some even got to the point where they wouldn't work plugged in, so I had to buy another.

Can you take it back to a retail Target store and complain? I don't know, I don't tend to buy online for that very same predicament you find yourself in now.

I plan to go target too , i wonder if they able to give me new controller?

      • It really depends on how reasonable they're feeling. They may give you a refund, they may give you a straight up replacement. They may go "Nah that's online, that's different lol sorry/notsorry"

    • Wow, that many? My two controllers are still going strong, years later.

Did you also buy the Play and Charge kit? Otherwise if it's just using normal batteries you can't charge them through the controller.

No i havent buy that charge kit yet, i thought it would come with the machine like ps3 . And controller use 2 AA battery, it just disappointed. Anyway, so i can't charge my controller with normal micro usb?

Dig into your stash of Ozbargain-sourced eneloops. Problem solved!

errr, xbox controller never had a charge capability

i just used eneloops and the normal energiser charger

  • please read the instruction manual…..

    • I can also safely say that I have never used a wireless xbox controller plugged in… why would you do this?

They are wireless for a reason.

      • Unless you have rechargeable batteries….!!

    From xbox website:

Rechargeable (LR6) AA batteries do not charge while in the Xbox One Wireless Controller. Only the Xbox One battery that comes with the Play & Charge Kit can charge while in the controller. Recharge standard AA batteries by the method recommended by the manufacturer.
