masters might price match but they dont price beat, thats bunnings. perhaps another reason bunning will kill off masters.

    • +1

They price beat except appliances where they will match.

  • also i think the ow and masters r different models

    • Both are same model DVR4-3425

      I checked it before I posted B)

  • I've bought a couple of these kits for friends when DSE have their sales. Never paid more than $249. Very reliable and remote access works well.

    • good night coverage.
almost got one from the ds deal

      • Good facial pick up? Good clarity?

        • Not with these old analogue cameras. 650tvl no chance. Go with IP cameras.

        • A friend has this kit and caught someone in his carport trying to get into his cars. He was able to create a poster of the perpetrators face and stuck them on lamp posts around the neighbourhood and gave it to the police. The police were able to tie him to a series of snatch and grabs at the local shops from CCTV footage.

@rstephenson: I had these cameras so the perp must have pressed his face into the camera lense to get any sort of facial recognition.

        • @MaMan: As long as its good light the picture is great. At night its good to about 3 meters then the ir runs out of legs and gets very noisy. I'm on to my second Swann system going from the 4 camera 1425 to the 8 camera 3425. On sale these system offer great value for money. I think I paid $420 for my 8 camera. For those looking at getting into home CCTV it offers a low cost reasonable quality entry point.

  • Would love to hear how people find these types of things

  • Says BNC connections so these are analog (over coax?), not IP network cameras? So you need to run power to each camera rather than POE ?

I think this is the website link: http://www.swann.com/au/swdvk-434254

    • It doesn't require a separate power to cameras, My soon to be in laws have the same system

      • Ahh nice.. its a pain having to run a data cable and power cable.

    • This model is analogue. The Kit comes with a power supply with 4 power connectors, one for each camera. The cable to the camera incorporated video and power with a BNC and power plug on each end. From memory it includes 4 x 18M cables. I needed longer for one camera and bought a cheap 30M cable of ebay with no obvious loss of quality.

      • that's correct. I had to buy longer cables of our local Chinese shop to wire the house.

  • Is Swann any good, or just another el cheapo Chinese brand?

Swann for this system that is on offer is overpriced garbage. 650TVL Cameras are near to useless.

If you cannot ID people (which you can't with these cameras) then do not buy. I did, got burned and now have IP Cameras that work a treat.

      • It obviously comes down to personal experience. Both my systems have been recent D1 recording resolution DVRs. I've been happy with both my purchases. I found my company car "keyed" each morning over 3 days, after day one I pointed a camera down to the road 20 Meters away. I caught the nice 12 year old girl on camera on day 2 and 3. My daughter identified her as a girl from her school and the police followed up after that using the footage as evidence. This was using the same model and camera supplied with this system.

        Which IP ones?

      • +1

hi what ip cameras did u get?

      • -1

Tell us the superior system available for the same price then.

  • If you buy and install one of these and get burgled, won't the burglar just steal the DVR too?

    • I always make sure I grab the DVR and any suspicious looking teddy bears and alarm clocks also… You just can't be too careful these days.

    • I guess you can setup cloud live backup so the burglar cannot steal the footage on cloud unless it hacks into your cloud account too?

  • We use swann DVR-4000 in the office, the client software is crape and their support team takes more than 2 weeks to arrange phone callback
