What is this tape, and where I can buy some?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what tape this is? It was used to stick a plastic casing to the wall (encasing the TV antenna neatly along the wall). I tried replacing it with standard double sided tape from Bunnings, and it didn't go that well. I don't know what tape it is because the previous owner stuck it up.

Pics of front and back of tape:

Thanks!

    • Thanks, but that one doesn't appear to be double sided though.

  • A little beat will fix it ;)

      Lol fat thumbs…

A little bear will fix it ;)

  • tape1.jpg looks like typical gaffer/cloth tape. Very strong.
I just got some from aliexpress. I'm sure ebay sell it.
Maybe try 100 mile an hour tape, bought white to cover big rust gaps in old bus.

  • wouldn't a couple of screws do the same trick?

  • When Bunnings fail, try a good marine or boating shop!

Pictures aren't the best but the second one looks like Velcro. I assume it is sticky on one side and rough on the other? That will be available at many places like Bunnings and Spotlight. The first thought I had looking at the first one (if it is a spongy rubbery type of foam but sticky on both sides) is the double-sided tape used to hold chrome/bump strips and badges to cars. Available at automotive supply stores. It is a lot more reliable than the cheap white crap passed off as double-sided tape. A better type is the clear double-sided tape (a thicker gel type, not sticky tape grade). "3M" Brand or Scotch comes to mind. Look for a red backing strip. Industrial strength, will probably take half the wall off trying to remove it :)

    • It's not velcro. Sounds/looks more like the automotive tape you mentioned. I just want to keep the thing stuck to the wall, but was hoping for easy-ish removal too. That's why I wanted to find the same tape, cos it was easy to remove.

      Thanks

      • If you want easy removal, I'd suggest looking at Command Strips, also at Bunnings etc. They use these on all sorts of hooks, mirrors, pictures and just about everything you can think of, for everything from plaster walls to shower tiles. They adhere fairly firmly, but when it comes time to remove them, you pull on a little tab of the stuff and is releases its grip without damaging the surface and without leaving residue.

I don't really understand what your application is, but I have found that you have to leave double-sided tape for about 24 hours before you can put any load (ie weight) on it.

Also, Bunnings have some red double-sided tape that seems to be a lot stronger than most. I think the brand is Perma.
