Black OnePlus 1 or 2

Well the mrs needs a new phone and wants a black OnePlus 1 or 2.

I'm inclined to go for the 2 as she tends to keep her handsets for 3-4 years so best to start with the latest and hope that it ages well.

To that end… given the myriad of sites like banggood, gearbest and all the other china/HK based online retailers, has anyone had a win in getting one for a good price? Especially with the coupons that are floating around the place that can really drive the price down.

Postage / stock is always a big deal when it comes to these retailers so lets say that i want to see it this side of christmas :)

TIA!

  • I just purchased a 6 month old 64GB OP1 from ebay for $310AUD delivered.
Its awesome! Battery life is literally amazing.
My old iPhone 5 wouldn't last a day. It wouldn't last for more than 1.5 hours of solid use.

The OP1 will easily last 2 days, sometimes up to 4 days if I dont use it that much.
You would literally have to be on it all day to drain through the battery in a day.

I saw reviews that the OP2 has worse battery and yeah.

  • I have opo2 bought from OPO using a forwarder.. Def better battery than my opo1 but that may be an age thing.. Anyway I have just been sent 3 invites if anyone interested.

    The phones bloody awesome BTW.

    • interested in one plus two invite! still available?

    • sounds good…. cant argue with that. hope their postage is good. would that cashbackrewards thing be valid with this i wonder? ill check

  • +1

I've owned both - I recently upgraded from a OPO 64GB to a OPT 64GB after breaking my OPO screen and failing to repair it. At the time of purchase, a 64GB OPO was going for $380 and a 64GB OPT was going for $490, and I made the decision to buy the OPT given the small price difference (new). After 2-3 months of ownership, I'm more than happy with my purchase!

Main differences that I appreciate and that I would recommend you think about (in order of value to me) are:

Camera: In 14 months of owning the OPO I was never impressed by its camera. I thought it was kind of slow and produced average pictures outdoors and was hopeless indoors/dark environments. OPT has a respectable camera (I would say equivalent to my missus's iPhone 6) for stills. 4k is not necessary but a welcome addition. Even if you don't have a 4k res screen/monitor, I think because 4k videos have a higher bitrate the quality is better anyway.

Build quality and materials: I really appreciate the feel and heft of the metal frame. It looks very sharp and may age better.

Fingerprint sensor: Very useful addition. Not only is it more secure but the OPT sensor is very quick, reliable. I would often make mistakes on my OPO entering my passcode when I was holding the phone in one hand, rushing around, or when the phone was mounted on a GPS holder in the car. My hands aren't particularly big so to reach to the other side of the screen to hit the 7 key required an awkward jiggle in my palm.

Slider switch - I use it a couple of times a day when I get into the office/go to lunch/return to my desk. Not a dealbreaker but very welcome addition.

Other considerations - chipset (I don't play intense games, but both felt equally snappy), software (not sure how support for OPO vs. OPT will continue.

  • anyone got an invite for me :)

  • go to dick smith and show her the oppo r7 or r7 plus, really nice phone and around $450-550 if I remember.
