      that cut deep

      • Unlike these knives which I've had for a while & will not cut anything deeply.

        • No way I have these knives and they are the best block set I have ever had, better than Wiltshire.

        such a sharp comment

11 knives, blocks and sharpener for under $112? That's less than $10 a knife cost. Even though it's cheap, it's not going to be any good. Something people might buy for their mother in laws perhaps?

So is cost the measure of quality now? It states that the RRP is $270 so does that mean the quality is 300% better than you're assuming?

I'm using aldi knives which cost less. Presumably this will be better? I do really like my Wiltshire cutlery so I thought this would be good.

      • There's a reason why a knife is expensive. I was a chef and I can tell you, there are differences in good and bad knives. Knife is only good if it's sharp and stays sharp. The metal has a lot to do with this. Differences in forging, cutting edge angles, metal hardness etc. makes a huge difference. Cheap knives are cheap because they cut corners. RRP are pointless and everyone knows that. I've also done a few years in retail and know one thing. If something is cheap, there's a good reason why they're cheap. If a block of knives cost $100 for 11 knives, there's a very good reason why it's only costing that much and why shops have not gone bankrupt selling them at that price. So stop being so naive and wise up.

Their website advertises both blocks (black and red) for $99 each…. so they've jacked up the price to $112 to cut down to $88. However, you get 5% off a OO.com.au. Not as great a deal as first thought. Free postage however.

    • $59 when I open the link, Set to WA store, $15 delivery

Think they are pretty obviously different plastic handles vs stainless etc.

I have this knife block and whilst I like it, it's nothing special.

This has a single sharpener in it. It would be cool if every hole on the block was a sharpener so they got sharp when you insert them and pull them out like the single staysharp knives do.

I have a block of wittshire, make sure you wash and dry them completely after using otherwise they spot rust.
