12x 96pt, 2013 Secret Mclaren Vale Granache $144 (60% off) @ Wine Direct

60

96 points and Top Gold in its class at the Melbourne Wine Show mark this as one of the very finest Grenache in the land.

I've never had a bad wine from these guys

$12/bottle current user

Among many others it beat d’Arenberg's Ironstone Pressings at $60 and Bonsai Vine GSM at $30; Willunga 100’s 'Tithing' Grenache at $40; Yalumba Tri-Centenary Grenache at $55 and 'The Strapper' GSM; Chapel Hill Bush Vine Grenache at $35; St Hugo GSM at $40; Rosemount MV GSM; 1847 Pappy’s GSM at $40; Kellermeister’s 'Threefold Farm Whiskers' at $45; PHI GSM; and St Hallett Cellar Release Mataro at $35. Clearly, this Grenache is sitting at the top of a very impressive pile of wine. This is a stunningly complex Grenache, packed with flavour and perfect with roast meats and antipasto… or just on it's own. It retails for $30 a bottle.

If posting a secret/mystery wine deal, it's customary to identify the label.

    • I shall attempt to uncover the mystery. Thanks

I'll give you a tip - the 2012 vintage has previously been offered for cheaper.

I would say it would be:
    Cliff Block Grenache, 2013
Lost Buoy Wines, McLaren Vale, SA

    • You beat me to it! I agree, Thanks!

Looks like a good wine. I've bought from these guys before and I'd happily buy from them again, but the bargains posted here never seem to generate much interest. I don't get it.

      • The 2012 got a James Halliday rating of 90 points, I'd imagine this vintage hits around the same, so it's pretty good value.

They should try 6 bottles instead of 12. No mystery in it if you get a wine you don't like.
