I can't find any dates that match the OPs stated prices, although I didn't check all dates.

      • you clearly didn't look at all then.

179 syd to manila fares are pretty much every day. the 140 manila to sydney flights seem to be every day starting from 2nd march

  • Leaving in 2 weeks bought in March for $99 but still a good deal.

Be careful with your luggages when flying out of Manila.

      • dont worry, they made a new law making it illegal….. like putting bullets in peoples luggage and setting them up to pay huge bribes was legal or something before?

        haha

Manila airport best bullet detecting facility in the universe

        • Wrap it.

        • @harkoliar:

what good is wrapping your carry on bag in plastic if they are going to want to open it and look inside anyway ?

          waste of time

        • @Makoto:
I meant wrap the checkin luggage. Carry-on I agree don't bother wrapping.

        • @harkoliar:

All these efforts, however, may only be creating a false sense of security for travelers. A bullet was recently found in the luggage of a 65-year-old woman, who had gone to great lengths to secure her belongings, including wrapping her son’s bag in plastic and securing her own with a padlock.

However, she had neglected to protect her bag’s outside pocket, which is where the bullet was found, suggesting that there is little in the way to stop a determined scammer.

          http://mashable.com/2015/11/06/filipino-bullet-planting-scam…

people are plastic wrapping notes to their luggage now too telling them to bugger off and dont even think about putting bullets in and have lawyers contact details etc on them

as above though, even wrapping the bag isn't a guarantee you're not gonna be messed with….

        • @Makoto:

A wrapped bag will be a deterrent when you put your bag beside an unwrapped one.

This is also a benefit/ detetent for those who use the zipper techique to open bags with a ballpen.

Crooks will always target the most vulnerable bag.

Nothing is ever going to be full proof but at least it may provide some deterrent.

I read an article about dodgy baggage handlers have only a few minutes or less to steal any items inside lugagges in the carousel. A wrapped bag will delay them long enough it's not worth for them to try and open your bag. It's easy to Slice open the wrapping but then the passenger would know its been tampered with.

As for the old lady, the bullet had to be there prior to the airport because even her outer pockets were locked and secured. ( literally stiched up). No way with all the witnesses it would be planted.

I personally wouldn't allow anyone to touch my luggage. Less people touching my bags, less issues.

good thing you are not employed by Manila Airport.

Whatever happens, keep the Australian Embassy contact details ready. If you a target of a "shakedown", DO NOT TOUCH anything, do not say anything (including your luggage which contains the "contraband") and call the Australian Embassy immediately. Don't even try to electronically "record" anything. Call the Australian Embassy immediately.

The luggage that the people at the airport target is the outbound (leaving Manila) hand-carry luggage . There's nothing they can do with checked-in luggage. This shakedown happens when you are about to enter the quarantine zone (the area before boarding and after customs and Duty Free shops).

          And have a safe trip.

The article I have tells a different story

The inquirer article stated linked in my previous post

Around noon, Fontamillas’ lawyer, Clint Estandarte, arrived and opened her bag, which she had sealed with a combination lock and had its outside pocket zipper stitched together.

She confided that she and her daughter had gone to the extent of sealing all their luggage in plastic, stitching up baggage zippers, and putting more padlocks because they wanted to avoid being victimized by the tanim-bala syndicate.

Note: Her outside pocket has been stiched together.

Which article would you believe? I personally believe inquirer article

Edit I can't figure out how to unbold this post on my tablet sorry

      • Shouldn't be a problem as not leaving the airport. I have another flight from the same terminal to Cebu a few hours apart.

  • Good price. Thanks.

  • Just checked. These guys used to have awesome prices over holidays. Not anymore :(

    • Thats cause it got to popular.. prices arent cut as often.. ;)

  • I always use locks on all zippers flying into Manila. More than half of my flights the locks are unlocked when I take it off the carousel.
But I have never noticed anything missing or added to my luggage.
    So far so good.

  • I can't even get the site to load :( so frustrating!

  • Fly out 10th March Back 17th March is available.
