  • AUD 84.45 for product shipped , not that much of a deal imo

    • compared to what?

      • +3

        A chromecast and your phone?

        • What about a raspberry Pi 2. CEC is an awesome luxury

    • +2

I dont know why OP negged me on this , using the code xmas06 on Banggood its for 81.31 delivered which is a saving of 2 dollars compared to what OP has posted.
      NOt a deal at all

  • Banggood have it for 86 delivered without a deal that is .
Find a coupon code for banggood and it would be cheap than this
I have one lying by , but i would pass

  • Raspberry Pi 2 plus XBIAN is better and has CEC? And 50 bucks

    • except when it comes to plugging in portable hard drives, thats where andriod boxes are better

      • what is the issue with hard drives? I got both powered and powered over usb. My WDTV live streaming is getting long in the tooth and needs replacing. I have a pi2 and can CEC. Just have to be bothered to program it all again.

      • It works ok with those too, but I just plug it into my NAS and it keeps chugging along

    • +1

Adding a remote, power supply, SD card, HDMI cable, and a case would cost you more than $50.

    • 100Mbps vs 1000Mbps Ethernet.

Also isn't cpu clock speed on the RPi2 only 1GHz?

  • Can we watch English Premier League live ?

What about some Asia channels like TVpad or Moonbox do ?

  • I like the beelink x2 for 29USD

    • +1 that. Most stable android box I've used. Have one turned on 24/7 and using Kodi/YouTube/NBA daily without a single force close and restart for 2 months now even since I got it.

      • Is there any disadvantage to be had with less ram of the X2 compared with the one OP posted? Sounds pretty good for the price.

        • I haven't noticed much difference between my Tronsmart R3386 2GB ram and Beelink 1gb ram other than a slight speed and the fact that when I use plex I have to use MX player to play some videos all videos and streams appear to work fine with Kodi though. I'm guessing as apps get more complex then it might come into play more. There are even boxes with 4gb out there such as the UGOOS UT3s but comes with a big price tag:)

    • Is that from deals machine as well? No problems with it?

      • +2

I have one and actually its $37, does pretty much all the same things just a diferent chipset. I use Kodi, Plex, Mame etc no probs. Wireless performance is not strong, if you need good wireless performance buy one with an external antenna. Note that I have not tried Netflix on it so I can't say if that works or not.

There are a few different firmware updates for it as well - official and custom. THe main source for all information on ANdroid TV boxes is the forums on FreakTab.com

        • Awesome thanks for the info

  • the s812 units run android 5 lollipop, and once on lollipop the OTA update also works …. used the tronsmart download on a tronsmart and a generic …… they only got it working in October , the betas before that used to self shutdown sometimes.

  • reviews are not good for this unit.

  • tronsmart mxiii plus, mxiii G, and this unit are same board design, the nuisance is if they don't ship with a AU power pack but instead a US or EU power pack and travel adaptor, travel adapter power board and power pack don't fit well, together and a AU 5v 2A power pack is another $7.

    • You shouldn't use the power supply that comes with any of these units as they aren't compliant.

Void house insurance, not to mention might void you and your family.

  • Hi guys, i have a mxq android box, it keeps turning off my samsung tv every few minutes, thought i take this opportunity to ask the experts here to see if you can help.

    • +1

I'd start with seeing if there are any updates to firmware for your model. Check FreakTab.com, loading firmware does require a bit of technical skill.

      • Thanks. I will check it out.

  • i have never used such devices. whats use of this?

    • Basically you can run various Android apps on your TV, from you tube, Mame, Plex, Kodi, if supported by the device netflix etc.

      • Is this better than chromecast

        • Chromecast 1 is good for casting ability but only goes up to 720p and only wireless. THese boxes can run ethernet and some up to 4k resolution.

        • If you use Kodi or want to play games on your TV then an android box is pretty good. I love my Tronsmart R68,but as someone said already the wifi isn't great.

  • I want something to run Kodi with live tv, would this be a good candidate? what tuner works with it?
