GTX 980 Ti $858, GTX 970 $423, R9 390 $437 and More Popular Cards Delivered (AUD) from Newegg

1520

Recently Newegg started shipping certain items directly from Australia, hence a lot of their items now have shipping prices in the reasonable ~$16 ranges. On top of the already low (usually) prices they have over local offerings, it makes for some decent deals. I've had a quick look through their graphics cards section and noted down some popular current generation cards with a decent saving over local prices. These are all in AUD with shipping costs to Sydney area included:

GTX 970
EVGA ACX 2.0+ $423.61

GTX 980 Ti
EVGA SC+ ACX 2.0+ $901.82
MSI OC $858.40
Gigabyte Windforce 3 OC $859.11

R9 390
MSI Gaming $437.53
PowerColor PCS+ $437.93

R9 390X
HIS $550.53

R9 Fury
XFX Triple Dissipation $788.82

R9 Fury X
XFX $938.01

I've only included ones that are what I believe to be considerably cheaper than what we can get from the likes of PCCG/MSY, etc. When browsing for other items you don't know if they're shipped from within Australia (and thus with cheap shipping) until you've added it to the cart, but I've made sure all the ones in my list are. I'm sure there are other bargains to be found in the likes of RAM, motherboards, etc. if you're willing to search around for a bit :)

Please make sure you're searching from the Australian portal for AUD pricing: http://www.newegg.com/global/au/

      • Yeah, but obviously don't get the PSU and case in the US unless you're sure you have plenty of extra room/weight in your luggage coming back.

PSU and Case are not hundreds of dollars more over here, anyway (and I think some of the cheaper US PSUs still support US 110V only, not sure?)

      • Thanks…and are NewEgg and Amazon my best sources?

Any deals with links to sites? I'll keen searching.

Agree with you on DVD and 'mgowen' on PSU and Case.

    • as it for a normal pc build, "not too much customization", you can find everything in australia with a ok price when on discount. so dont worry too much even if you missed out in US.

      but anyway.

      small things are always welcomed:

      SSD
      CPU
      RAM
graphic card( this should be the most "valuable" choice since it cost so much in shipping but doesn't cost much when you are the one who ship it.)
maybe some silient fans that doesnt exist in Australia.

  • With upcoming DirectX 12 games and going into 2016, Maxwell based cards do not perform as well as GCN based. Not an AMD fanboy but stating facts, AMD cards age better than nVidia cards. I would recommend buying GCN based cards if you cannot wait until 2016 when Pascal or Artic Islands come out. I hope i don't get downvoted by nVidia fanboys saying that their cards are betetr, compare apples for apples, Kepler based cards used to cost 35% more than AMD yet with new patches and Directx12 they perform 19% less than their AMD equivalent.

And if you go AMD, you won't need a heater in winter either…

      • …and you will need aircon for the summer.

    • take a long-term look at all this: right now is not a good sweet spot to investigate money into high end cards?

my current card need to go within 1 year for sure, i dont think it is THAT URGENT for me to upgrade right now since so many console titles are waiting for me( console exclusive ones), but i really dont want my 5760x1080 pixel waiting for me, nothing beats the immerise of 3 minitor gaming if everything is setup and working correctly…..

i never used AMD before, i dont dislike them, i am just afriad to take the very first risk of buying them at the first place since i am a day-one nvidia customer .

in your comment, the AMD will be better than Nvidia with DX12?

  • well crap. Just brought a msi r390 on saturday from pcg for a lot more than that

  • I am guessing we don't get a tax invoice to claim at TRS?

    • +3

Are you paying GST on an American item? No. Also, why would you want to take a large gpu on holidays. Very inconvenient

      • -2

        Who said anything about holiday?

        • +1

Reason for the trip is irrelevant. The space, weight and risk to getting the gpu damaged is not worth it. Regardless, Newegg isn't applicable to this. Conversation ended.

@2pro4sho: Relax man. You are making too many assumptions. It is a fair question. Some oversea companies have offices in Oz and provides tax invoice with ABN.

  • Great price on R9 390
I paid $515 for one last week

  • We have waited long for this day.

If only they'd started shipping cheaply to Aus back when the US dollar was weaker…

    I've got an R9 280X (2 years ago) and running Fallout 4.
The auto-detect system rated options on Ultra, on my 27" screen.

    • I've got a R9 270, less powerfyl than yours and it runs fallout 4 maxed on ultra. FPS range from 60 to 35 in really intense spots at 1080p. I'm impressed with AMD

      • Yeah but oddly enough, I coudlnt run Assassins Creed Unity on High as it skipped in crowded areas..

    • Set tessellation in CCC to AMD optimized for a nice FPS boost in FO4
      Also drop Godrays to low.

      • Thanks for the tip! will try it tonight

  • Remember Cashrewards too, 1.2%

  • Damn I paid $540 locally for an MSI R9 390 a few weeks ago. Newegg's price wasn't discounted at the time so there wasn't enough of a price difference to make it worthwhile, plus I wasn't sure that they'd get the card to me before Fallout 4 came out :)
However, it's bloody nice being able to hit "Auto detect graphics settings" in Fallout 4 and see everything get set to "Ultra"

    • I'm assuming Fallout 4 has low gpu requirements, most users seem have got Ultra without any issues including my 18 month old R290.

  • I have the best 19" monitor on the market :

    https://www.cdw.com/shop/products/EIZO-RadiForce-MX191-LCD-m…

If I paired it with a 980Ti, will they run WoW, Diablo3 and SC2 with max setting?

    Cheers!

    • With that low resolution you'll actually find that the CPU is probably going to be the main factor.

But yes, you should easily be able to max everything out - then use dsr (the resolution down sampling tool) and you'll start dipping below 60fps again :)

      What CPU are you using?

      • i5-4590, it's the first generation of Haswell.

  • Not a bad price on the MSI 970 gaming…but I'll wait for more sales that we're sure to have over the coming month and try and get local stock. Ain't nobody got time to be without their fancy video card for that long sending it overseas for RMA.

  • worth to wait for pascal 2016 cards? running 3 way 660ti here…..many game are pain to even open ……

    • I don't think we'll see Pascal until mid next year :/

  • UPDATE: Shipping has changed from $17 to $44

    • Thanks, marked as expired. Hopefully it's just a stock issue and shipping will go back down in the near future.

      • Here's hoping it goes back down before Black Friday, and a further sale on the R9 390 wouldn't hurt either :P
Hopefully I don't kick myself for not pulling the trigger on it the last few days.

  • Is the low shipping a temporary thing? Doesnt appear cheap anymore especially coming from aus
