Huggies Ultra Dry Nappies Jumbo Box $24 @ Woolworths

560

Looks like Woolworths have matched the previous popular Huggies nappy deal from Coles a month ago, $24 for a jumbo pack. Currently $33 at Coles for comparison.

need to wait for these to be sold out so I can raincheck them!

already have 6 on raincheck from coles LOL

    • trying to understand how rainchecking works.. Why would you do that? So you don't have to pay now?

      • +2

Basically, when a store runs out of a product, you have the option to raincheck which is a coupon drawn up by the staff to promise to sell you X units of product y at the advertised price of z which will expire in 6 months normally. You can come back anytime when the product is back in stock and buy it at the promotional price. You don't need to pay any deposit like a layby. I do this when they have the $1 Quilton tissues on sale.

        • Woolworth have 12 month expiry on their rainchecks but many of their stores won't raincheck red spot specials.

If the will - bonus! I managed to save thousands when they had their half price baby love nappies special using the rainchecks.

        • @Laurenlauren:
yep, just need for them to be sold out!
          coles is only 1 month!!!!

        • makes sense. So in djones145's case, do the 6 items need to be picked up together or can it be done progressively?

        • @Zinger: interested in knowing this also

        • +2

          @Zinger:
Again, it depends on the store. Official policy is a max of 6 items can be placed on raincheck and all 6 need to be redeemed in the same transaction. However some stores will let you buy a couple and write on the raincheck to update it.

        • @Zinger:
they usually allow you to pick them up progressively
but 1 month doesn't give u much time
I had some vouchers where I saved 6 bucks every week (30 buck spend) so I got one each week
          they seem to allow it

you can always say they only have one left on the shelf!

        • @djones145:

          thanks for the tips guys!

So can I have a raincheck on coles fuel?

    • Great tip about rainchecks!!!

However, the nappies will never be sold out again. Everybody on ozBargain will be waiting for this instead of buying them straight away :-)

      • sometimes they do, boys one get sold out before girls for some reason!

also try smaller stores, for coles u can raincheck and buy it anywhere!

  • bought 4 :)

    Thanks

Waiting for the discount code to popup. The $10 off one just expired.

  • how much are aldi nappies in comparison, does anyone know?

    • Two completely different products (qualities)

    • The equivalent Aldi nappy is 22c per nappy.
      https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/baby-care/baby-care-det…

I personally find the Aldi nappies to be better also.

      I tried the Aldi nappies for our son and we didn't like them;

The back of nappy didn't absorb any water, it was only the front of the nappy, so we had to change them frequently.
With the Huggies the front and back of the nappy gets absorbed with water.
Our son also developed a rash using the Aldi nappies on the elastic area.

My other friend is using the Aldi nappies and hasn't had any issues with them and recommends them over the Huggies.

I think you just need to buy a pack and try them for yourself to see.

      • Yup. These posts come-up every time.

Kids would be safer with Macca's napkins.

  • We're expecting our first bub in May next year. People tell me I should start buying nappies now - are they crazy or should I start stacking the garage? Tempted to go and grab a couple of boxes of the newborn ones from Woolies after work!

    • They are not crazy! haha
People may buy you some newborn nappies if you have a baby shower but I would definately start stocking up on nappies now. I would definately buy 2 boxes of newborn nappies and then 1 or 2 boxes of the next size up just to cover yourself! Nappies you're going to need for years to come and $24 a box when coles did it a few weeks ago is the LOWEST I have seen huggies nappies go! It's an AMAZING price! :)

      • Oh that's good! I was thinking of buying 3 boxes.. how quickly do they grow into the next size up usually?

        • +1

3 boxes would be ok, because that covers you if you have a small baby and they are in newborn size for longer. If you dont open the 3rd box and your bubs grows out of them woolworths/coles etc will swap them for the next size even without a recipt…
My son was 2940g (6pound7ounces) born and i only used 2 boxes of newborn nappies before he outgrew them… But he also gained like 200/250g a week which apparently is a lot..
          Hope this helps :)

        • Impossible to say. My child who is almost 1 now was 6 weeks premature and she is still small for her (unadjusted) age, so she was in Newborn nappies for a long time and is still in Crawler now.

It will also depend on how many poos per day they average! And the amount fluctuates a lot from week to week and month to month!

Anyway, you should still stock up on any particularly good specials you see because you can always exchange them for the same box in a different size.

I wouldn't stack the garage. I think it is best to try a few brands and stock up with what you prefer. Can't hurt to have a jumbo box ready through. :)

You have another 6 months to get your sh*t together so go easy tiger.

You will most likely get some nappies from friends if you have a baby shower or friends may pass them onto you once their newborns have moved on.

We recently had a baby and used two boxes of the newborn version before we upsized.

If you get to 30 odd weeks and don't have any nappies then I'd buy some.

They are frequently on sale (maybe not at this price) so I doubt you'll save too many pennies loading up 6 months in advance.

      Just my 2 cents…

All the different brands fit differently, so I wouldn't go stocking up on nappies. Your baby may be best in another brand.

However… If you find a store that's out of stock, you could try asking for a raincheck. These last for 12 months and means that if your baby is suited for huggies, then you can pop in with your raincheck and get them at the cheaper price.

    • +1

Don't get too many newborn size nappies. My neighbour's kid has outgrown the newborn size within a week. While you may save $9 per box if you get them now compared to the full price, throwing out an unused box will cost you $24 at least.

Also to keep in mind that different babies/people prefer different nappies. If you read comments some swear by huggies, some by the cheaper nappies. Some children get rash with some brand, some with other.

I would get 1-2 boxes of newborn size and 1-2 boxes of the size up.

$24 is as cheap as it gets but you can usually find huggies on special somewhere (Target has them for $28 ATM). The usual Coles/Woolies price is $33.

      edit:
Also see rainchecks that people mentioned before. I was not aware of this before.

throwing out an unused box will cost you $24 at least.

I've never had a problem returning a box to my local Woolworths/Coles, even without a receipt, to swap for the next size up. YMMV however.

        • +1

yeah I have done this before

also u can always sell to friends

      • +1

Thanks for the tip, I think I'll get 2 boxes of newborn and 1 box each of the next size up (1 girl, 1 boy) then that way we should only have 1 box to swap over at Woolies/Coles down the track.

If for some reason they turn out to be no good then at least we've spent the money now and it's easy enough to change over later. I'd rather start collecting things over the next few months so as to not whack the budget in 1 hit when the baby arrives.

    • I only went through maybe 4 boxes with my son. I wouldn't recommend buying too many, a lot of people will give you nappies as a gift also

  • +1

You may also be able get 5+ boxes delivered for free this weekend (over $100):
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/220417

  • We use Huggies for night time and Aldi ones for day time. You change nappies more often during thr day so it works out better for us…. This is a good price tho

ToyRUs got jumbo packs as well for a good price with membership. The membership is free.

    • +1

The large boxes (mega?) of nappies at $40 or more are more expensive per nappy than these smaller boxes (jumbo).

  • There's also a voucher next to the self checkout for $10 off $100 spend. At participating stores only it seems.

don't forget to get stars from huggies and get the toy
    https://www.huggies.com.au/

got extended to end of November!

    • I've got enough stock for 2 toys, but the mrs. loves throwing receipts out.
      NICE

      • Yeah I did that at the start. Had to remember not to throw them out
