woohoo..I'm literally down to just 1 backup nappy for my baby as of this morning. have been holding out until today's specials before buying more at full price of $33 and luckily the wait paid off this time otherwise i would literally have poo on my hands..thanks op..off to coles I go.

    • +1

I am down to my last 2 packs as well, plus I am in middle of spend $50 for 4 weeks and get 10000 points promotion . going to buy 2 boxes this weekend and another 2 on monday or tuesday. Great timing for me as well

  • +1

Dont forget CW 10% price beat as well

    • +1

      CW?

    • wow, that's good..does anyone know if CW has a limit on how many boxes you can get? purchasing online would be good as orders over $99 gets free shipping but you would have to go in store to get them to apply the 10% on coles's price right.

    • +3

CW might not accept the price match. It seems a lot of people have issues getting them to price match Woolworths etc. On their website, they state the following:

At Chemist Warehouse Online Store if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian registered pharmacy or Australian registered online pharmacy we will match it and give you 10% off the difference.

I ended up getting CW to price match with the 10% discount of the difference but I went through so much effort and trouble that I don't think it would be worth it. The manager was really reluctant to price match and gave Coles a call and claimed that Coles does not have stock. I then had to personally call another Coles to prove to her that there is stock. Then she started saying that the maximum number of boxes that they can price match is 3 boxes.

The funny thing was I went to the Coles where she claimed was out of stock and they had heaps available. At the end of the day, it is just not the effort of spending 30 minutes there trying to sort things out when I could go to Coles and be out of there in a couple of minutes.

        • @mw: Knobs. Your last shopping experience with them is hardly going to win your business… or ours, after reading about it.

    • CW probably won't beat prices from Coles or Woolies….They only beat prices of the other chemist shops….Also from memory they have a clause in their Price beat policy that excludes nappies.

    Aldi still cheaper.

    • +4

      Aldi don't sell Huggies nappies

      • -3

Neg away, I'm happy paying 18c per nappy for no loss in quality.

        • +6

we usually try all 3 (babylove, huggies, aldi).. .first kid was fine with the aldi ones… second one got a rash so we used baby love/huggies till it didn't matter… third kid is fine rash wise but must piss a lot more than the others cuz both baby love and aldi leak whenever his wearing them.. :P so have to go huggies… no one said aldi is better or worse just sometimes one suits a kid better than another and when its on sale its a deal ….

        • +3

'… for no loss in quality.'

Surely you jest? I find the Aldi nappies are OK for an hour or two (say if bub needs a change just an hour or two before his bath, etc.), but for longer stints or for overnight they can be prone to leakage/ don't seal as well/ aren't as absorbant as Huggies; which are clearly the best nappies around. Albeit the most expensive.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: I do not jest. I do understand each to their own, I'm just lucky I guess.

        • +2

LOL Aldi and babylove nappies are a POS quality nappy. I've tried so many times to convert my kid into wearing them but they leak or bulk up quicker so you need to change more often. Overnights are a disaster if your kid pees a lot and if your kid has big number 2's it is a literal disaster zone with those nappies. Avoid.

I gotta say my baby is a BIG sized baby so maybe with a tiny baby you might be alright?

        • @bym:

          'I'm just lucky I guess'

Yeah I guess so, in the Scud's informative post above she/he reports that their first was fine with Aldi nappies all the way through… so it is evidently possible with some babies! I'm a bit jealous; those Aldi nappies are cheeeeap.

  • +11

It's pretty sad to think how excited I get to see Nappys on sale, more than I do seeing gadgets on sale. haha

    • I shop more for my kid than I do for myself since he was born lol

      • Yep. I know how it is!

    • i am with you, mate

  • So… do nappies have an expiration date?

    • never looked but we had a few sample newborn ones we forgot about and i took it out of the pack and it fell apart.. hehehe i'm assuming you got one on the way?

      • haha yeah 4-5 months - just wondering how far ahead I should stock up :)

        • +1

If you are going to have a baby shower, don't buy too many boxes yet. You may be given heaps. And if you do succumb, and buy a few boxes, keep receipts! That way if you buy too many newborn, you can exchange for bigger sizes. We went through ONE box of newborn nappies for my 10lb bub and 2 boxes for my 8lb 11oz bub.

        • +1

          @whitewatermelon:

Yeah made that mistake myself. My kid grew so quick I have so many left over nappies until I hit the toddler (10-15kg nappy) stage (at about 6 months).

        • @whitewatermelon:
Wollies are quite good with exchanges. I didn't have a receipt (threw it away) but they allowed me to exchange. Did this at two wollies too. Guess the service people were nice

    • +1

'So… do nappies have an expiration date?'

All I know is they are defo' BEST BEFORE the 'number 2'.

  • +10

    I don't have a baby….must resist bargain.

    • I see you live in Melbourne Al… feel free to buy my boy a box, if you really need to 'scratch that itch' :P

    • +1

a true ozbargainer would hoard for the future

      • +2

So….I bought the nappies (naturally)….now….off to make the baby.

  • great price for huggies.
for anyone wanting good value, I've tried almost every brand available in Aus. And have found that the Coles Comfy Bots are the best value for money at roughly 20c each as a regular price for most sizes.

looks like this deal is only for newborn. bah. they do that so they can start the brand loyalty

    • +1

Its for all the Jumbo box sizes, not just the newborn one.

      • hm i didn't see that on the online shop

        • deal url updated :)

    • Are they as good as Huggies? They are probably the only brand I haven't tried.

      • they don't feel as good, huggies have found a way to make the lining feel soft and high quality. but they retain just as well and sit tight.

    • With babies, poo and wees I rather spend a little more and have it comfortable for them and not leak than save a few bucks!

  • Just enquired with CW and they do price match with Coles.
We need to prove the price.

    Happy bargain!

    • Did you tell them the price? I think they'll balk at it when you take it in there. Bargain hunter beware.

  • +1

Our baby is not due until next year… Just checking, how often do Coles/WW discount their nappies to that price?

    • +1

$24 is a rare price point

    • you'll see them for 20c ea every now and then. especially the newborn ones.
but try other brands and see which one suits you

    • +2

Huggies regularly go on sale for $27 for all sizes.
Every now and then you can get them for $25 a box.
This is the first time I've seen them for $24 since I started buying them just over a year ago.

      • +1

        'Effectively' $20/Box @BigW 3mths ago

        • Yep, I was talking more about the pricing itself without resorting to stacking coupon codes, etc

        • @SuiCid3: Just had to buy 4 boxes (already @$25). No coupon codes/stacking/tricks/effort required.

    • +1

This is the second time ever that I have seen Huggies boxes go below the $27 mark (I've been working at Coles for ~2 years). The first time was ~3 months ago when they sold for $25 a box.

I'd like to say they might drop to $25 or below again in ~3 months but I'm not in a position to look up specials that far ahead.

Woolworths on the other hand, (not associated, anything past this should be taken with a grin of salt) looking through older catalogues they seem to drop to 2 for $50 every few months.

      • thanks for the feedback guys.. I might get a box just in case it does not drop back to that price again!

  • +2

Big w had 2 for 50 plus if you spend 100 you get a 20 dollar gift card

Got 4 then for 80. That was crazy. 24-25 is very cheap!

    • +1

How do you get the $20 gift card.. Instore or you needed a voucher first?

        • So that's not a recent deal happening?

        • @kimba88:
Depends on how u define recent. 3 months is quite recent for me! Had a baby in that period lol

        • @djones145: Lol. I thought you got the deal yesterday.. Hence I was so intrigued :-P

        • @kimba88:
aaahh yeah was a while ago
but I reckon woollies will have a similar sale on huggies next week, always happens with coles and wollies
they seem to tag team on sales!

      • Instore

  • +1

Just grabbed a couple from chemist warehouse which matched the price so paid $23.10 each after they discounted 10% of the price difference.

  • Come to think of it, human babies are such a chore compared to animal babies. They need constant attention and can't do anything by themselves. Birds probably learn to fly before human babies even stand up. A baby horse already practices walking on day 1. Human babies can't even shit somewhere without inconveniencing someone.

    • +1

It's all personal preference. I know mothers that swear by huggies. Other believe they are terrible and baby love are best. Then some buy Japanese ones as they absorb more. As a new dad, we just tried most of all and used the one we felt was best and also the one bub wasn't getting rash with. Huggies at the end

Anyone has extra stars that they do not use or had already claimed all the toys?? I would love to have your receipt and barcodes to help me to get the chair!!'

    • Same here! Please PM me if anyone has extras as well.

    • +1

If I were you, I would get your stars ASAP. https://www.huggies.com.au/rewards
There are only 46 left at time of writing.

I have 3 receipts with 2 Jumbo boxes on each for 6 Jumbo boxes all up. I'll ask around my family first, but if they don't want it, I am more than happy to give them away.

      • Thanks John!! I have inbox you!! :)
